CHURCH NEWSLETTER

Be Vigilant

Being vigilant means being watchful and attentive, especially to potential danger or problems. This does not mean living in fear.  It involves being aware of your surroundings and taking precautions to avoid harm or undesirable outcomes. Essentially, it's about staying alert and focused, rather than being passive or easily distracted.

Here's a more detailed look:

  • Alertness:
  • Vigilance involves being mentally and physically prepared to respond to potential threats or changes in your environment.
  • Keep your phone handy when out and about.
  • Know where exists are located when shopping, dinning, in church, or other buildings.
  • Attentiveness:
  • Pay attention to people around you and what they are doing.
  • Awareness:
  • Don't feel embarrassed to say something if you see something--even if you're wrong. Your actions could save your life and the lives of other people.
  • Use wisdom. Shopping or gassing up your car in the middle of the night might not be your best choice.
  • Most important, let's pray for each other and the world we live in.

Sewing Class Reveal

June 22, 2025

 CLFMI Sewing Class teachers:

Melissa Betts, Marietta Brooks, Beverly Jones, and Cheryl Quiney showcased the garments and items made by their students.

Participants in the Sew Reveal were:

Andrew Betts, Traci Buckner, Sandra Cartwright, Marva Franklin, Mervyn Griffith, Monica Griffith, Collette Howard, Sallye Ramsey, Sylvia Spikes and Kailah Thomas. They displayed or modeled pillows, bags, aprons, hats, pouches, dresses, pants, vests, jackets, and pajamas that were made by them!

There were many other students who participated in the classes and completed a project, but weren’t available for the Sew Reveal. Both men and women participated in the sewing classes. Students ranged in age from 10 - 82!

The students were presented with certificates of completion.

Everyone present had a wonderful time!

A special presentation was made to Sis. Beverly Jones for her exemplary leadership and being the brain child creating CLFMI’s sewing classes.

Beverly, Cheryl, Marietta, Melissa and their returning students will be excited to see you in October for the next sewing session!

AN ENCOURAGING WORD

Encouraging Word Article

July 2025

Let's get real!!

Don't let the good times lead you off track!  This is how it can happen.  Becoming self-reliant using God as a second resource, or, worse of all, forgetting GOD altogether!!  It's easy to turn to God with your back up against the wall.  It's easy to cry out when everything is crashing in on your world.  But because of the nature of man, it's easy to forget that everything we have, know, and can do comes from God.  You are not self-reliant!, or self-made!!  Even what you have isn't that important.  It will all be left behind one day.  Everything belongs to God, even you. So what is the solution?  Begin to recognize that God is on your side, and He loves you more than you can ever imagine.  Make it a habit to thank Him in good and bad times.  There is light at the end of the tunnel, and it's not an oncoming train if you  put your trust in the Lord.

Another thought,

Following the rules and doing what is right isn't always the same.

Another thought;

"Faith is taking the first step without seeing the whole

staircase. "

Remember God loves you, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Till next time,

Pastor J.

I'd like to hear from You.

What happened after the Civil Rights Act of 1964?
