Rapid Testing Available March 9th
The City of Phoenix is expanding options for COVID-19 testing, making it easier for employees to find the testing option that best meets their needs.
Beginning March 9, the City of Phoenix will offer free Rapid COVID tests for employees and household members at the Parks and Recreation Washington Activity Center. The Live-virus PCR* test will still be available at this location, upon request. A Rapid COVID test will provide test results, in most cases, within 10-15 minutes of the test being administered. You would need to wait on site for results.
The Washington Activity Center is located at 2240 W. Citrus Way, in Phoenix. This is not a drive-through test site and appointments are required. Please also take note of the new testing hours at the Washington Activity Center. Beginning Tuesday, March 2, PCR tests (and Rapid Tests beginning March 9) will only be administered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
Scheduling an Appointment
All appointments at the Washington Activity Center must be scheduled by a City of Phoenix employee.
Call the scheduling line at 602-534-0693, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to secure a Tuesday or Thursday appointment.
A six-digit employee identification number will be required during the call, to verify employment and confirm the appointment.
*A PCR test is a molecular test that uses a deep nasal swab. According to public health experts, the PCR test is less likely to have false negative results than other diagnostic tests such as the Rapid test.

Self-Quarantine Following Out-of-State Travel
Exclusions for Self-Quarantine:
Employees will not be required to quarantine for out of state travel, if they have received both vaccines two or more weeks ago or have had a positive Covid test in the last 3 months.
Additionally, if you are unable to reschedule or receive a reimbursement for your travel plans that were scheduled and paid for prior to last Friday's announcement, please contact ASPTEA.
Employees will not be eligible for the city’s paid COVID-19 leave or borrowed leave while they are under a self-quarantine due to voluntary travel unless they become symptomatic and are seeking a diagnosis or they test positive for COVID-19. Employees may, however, use any other leave time from their own leave banks to cover the self-quarantine period.
For more information about the new voluntary travel guidance and the city’s paid COVID-19 leave options, please see the HR COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions or contact your HR liaison.
