PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL – The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office has been recognized with two national awards and one honorable mention from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) for its work during the 2024 election cycle. The EAC’s Clearinghouse Awards, known as the “Clearies,” honor best practices in election administration across the country. While the EAC recognized a total of 53 award-winning programs nationwide, Palm Beach County’s three accolades set it apart as the most awarded jurisdiction in the state.
Palm Beach County received awards in the following categories:
Outstanding Use of HAVA Grants in Election Modernization
The Elections Office was honored for its strategic use of Help America Vote Act (HAVA) grant funds to enhance accessibility, security, and efficiency. In 2024, the office deployed ExpressVote paper ballot marking devices at all Early Voting locations, making the system traditionally used for persons with disabilities available to all voters. This touchscreen-based technology improves the voting experience by reducing ballot marking errors and increasing efficiency, while maintaining a secure, paper-based voting process. All votes marked using ExpressVote are printed and tabulated using certified scanners.
Creative and Original “I Voted” Stickers – Large Jurisdictions
Palm Beach County also received recognition for designing two unique “I Voted” stickers featuring accessible braille to promote inclusivity and voter pride. These stickers were developed by a Florida non-profit school committed to serving students with disabilities. The braille stickers were distributed countywide during the 2024 election.
Efficient Voter Ready Election Day Phone App – Large Jurisdiction
In addition, Palm Beach County earned an honorable mention for its innovative mobile application suite designed to support Election Workers on Election Day. The app enabled real-time communication between polling locations and the Main Elections Office, improving responsiveness and overall coordination. As a result, resources were deployed more effectively, and Election Workers were able to manage their time and responsibilities more efficiently, helping ensure a smooth voting experience across the county.
“These awards reflect our team’s commitment to serving every voter in Palm Beach County with integrity, transparency, and innovation,” said Wendy Sartory Link, Palm Beach County’s Supervisor of Elections. “We are proud to be recognized among election offices across the country and remain focused on ensuring accessible, secure, and efficient elections for every eligible voter.”
The EAC received a record 258 submissions for the 2024 Clearies.
