Hurricane Isaias

Department Relief Efforts - Important Update

The Department's Disaster Preparedness Team is fully activated and working to efficiently coordinate logistics to deliver essential supplies to the areas impacted by Hurricane Isaias. The Department has established designated staging areas for relief items and is working to create a comprehensive action plan to ensure a safe and organized response.

We kindly urge everyone to adhere to the instructions provided by the Disaster Preparedness Team; following their guidance is crucial for everyone's safety and ensures that the right supplies reach the areas in need.

While we greatly appreciate your willingness to help, it's important to understand that entering severely impacted regions uncoordinated may disrupt relief operations. Our close collaboration with local officials enables us to accurately assess where and when supplies and volunteers can be deployed most effectively.

In the meantime, let us focus on proactive measures we can take now to streamline the delivery of items and services to those affected. Your commitment to helping our community is invaluable, and together, we can make a significant impact during this critical time.

Endorsed by Department - Staging vs Collection Areas

Below are the confirmed Department-endorsed locations designated to support hurricane relief efforts. Each serves an important role in ensuring donated supplies reach those who need them most.

Staging Areas: Located closer to impacted communities, these sites serve as distribution hubs to coordinate and deliver supplies directly to affected areas.

Collection Site: Located throughout the state, these designated drop-off points gather donated supplies for transport to staging areas as needed.

All locations will work together under Department coordination, mobilizing supplies and resources only when directed. This ensures an organized, efficient response that gets the right supplies to the right places at the right time.

If your Post would like to be a designated collection site or a staging area, please coordinate your efforts with Department Headquarters by email or phone. This will be relayed to the Chair and your Area and District Commanders. As we continue to stress, for everyone’s safety, the coordination of items into affected areas takes extreme organization of logistics. We need to ensure that people get items that are needed and have adequate space to receive them.

Please do not transport supplies into impacted areas without prior coordination. Remember, these communities are already facing limited resources, including fuel. Unplanned trips can strain local supplies and leave volunteers stranded without enough gas to return home.

Your willingness to help is invaluable, but working together ensures our efforts provide relief, not additional challenges.
