Greetings!

A common question I've received in from parents is "are graphic novels real books?" My response has been "Absolutely. Kids learn words through images, and you want to get them interested in the action and habit of reading." Graphic novels can be entry points to spark creative interests in art, storytelling, and reading.

With this in mind, are you interested in the process of creating graphic novels? Join the Monterey Public Library and the Monterey History and Art Association, at the Stanton Center as we welcome author and artist Nidhi Chanani. Nidhi is best known for creating graphic novels including Pashmina, Jukebox, and Shark Princess. She will be talking about her journey to become a graphic novelist, her writing and drawing process, and share her newest work Super Boba Café. We are excited to welcome her to Monterey and look forward to seeing you there. Remember, graphic novels are real books too!

Warmly~
Brian
