Participate in research: Take part in an international allergy and asthma survey – Survey closes October 19!

Are you 16-25 or a parent of a child aged 11-25 with allergic conditions or asthma? Complete a 10-15min survey!

Researchers are aiming to better understand young people’s experiences during the transition from paediatric care to adult allergy and asthma care.

Your input can help identify what’s working well, what could be improved, and where additional support may be needed.

Mythbuster: Do trick-or-treat sized candies/chocolates always have the same ingredient list as the full-sized versions?

Many companies create a Halloween edition of their products, usually a smaller-sized version of the product, which can sometimes be distinguished by different packaging with fun Halloween colours and/or designs.

Get familiar with your epinephrine device before Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, make sure you’re prepared to treat an allergic reaction if one happens.

Do you know how to use your epinephrine device? Does your child? What about the family member, babysitter or friend who might be with them on Halloween night?

Watch Dr. Julia Upton demonstrate the epinephrine devices available in Canada and walk through how they are used.

Do you have a food allergy-related question? Send it to us at info@foodallergycanada.ca.

Ways to Give

Fundraiser: Turning Halloween magic into giving back

Looking for a not-so-spooky Halloween read? Meet Sam Moses, a children’s author who uses storytelling to help little ones better understand food allergy.

Even sweeter than Halloween candy, she’s donating 100% of the proceeds from her books to support our cause! Learn more about Sam, her latest book, Banjo and the Switch Witch, and why she’s fundraising for Food Allergy Canada.

Be bright! Be brilliant! Stand out this Halloween

Looking for a fun way to celebrate the season and support food allergy awareness? Get creative with these Halloween fundraising ideas. Big or small, every effort helps shine a light on food allergy and makes a difference in your community.

Craft party

Bring friends, family, or your community together for a teal-themed craft night!

To help you get started, we’ve created a handy list of things you’ll need.

Trunk-or-treat

This tradition is popping up in neighbourhoods everywhere. Families gather in a parking lot, decorate their trunks, and hand out safe treats or small toys. Add a fundraising element by asking for donations, or hold a contest for the most creative trunk.

Create your own

Have an idea that’s totally unique? Go for it!

Whether it’s a bake sale, dance-a-thon, craft sale, or #ShineATealLight bracelet sales, the sky’s the limit.

The most important part is bringing people together while raising awareness and support.

School fundraising

Halloween is a great time to bring fundraising into the classroom, too.

Adapt ideas like teal craft parties or trunk-or-treat events for schools, or come up with your own fun, candy-free activities.

It’s a chance to build awareness while bringing students together.
