Hello Valley View Families,
I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. It was another busy week here at Valley View and one of our highlights was our all-school assembly to recognize our students of the month for the theme, Never Give Up. Check out our Facebook page for more details and pictures.
Here is a note regarding our new Social Studies curriculum:
This year, our elementary classrooms are using a new social studies resource! McGraw Hill Impact is an inquiry-based knowledge-building social studies curriculum that promotes students' understanding of the world. Impact utilizes print and digital resources to encourage students to develop critical thinking and civic skills to become active citizens.
Students explore various perspectives on past events and current issues through learning that integrates geography, economics, history, and citizenship. Families can expect a letter to come home at the start of each social studies chapter. This letter highlights the topics being covered and includes a family activity to extend the learning at home. It will be a year of new learning through textbooks, student workbooks, and online games and activities.
We invite students to wear Green Bay Packer apparel (or their favorite sports team) on Monday, 11/10, since the Packers play on Monday night.
Tuesday, November 11, is Veterans Day. We want to express our profound gratitude and respect for the selfless services and sacrifices of all those who have served and are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.
We look forward to our Intergenerational Day on Friday, 11/14, from 9:00-10:30.
It's going to be a great week! Go Valiant Knights!
Respectfully,
Jenni Tamblingson
