When I first received an appeal to donate to AAUW National, I had just recently joined Marin

AAUW and I was not compelled to donate. I was more interested in helping our local branch’s

initiatives. Since then, I have gradually learned about the vital work AAUW does for women all

over the country! I am convinced that our donations are needed to help continue AAUW’s work

in areas of focus- Economic Security, Education and Advocacy. I hope I can convince you to

join me in donating to the AAUW National Greatest Needs Fund.

The Greatest Needs fund “allows AAUW to respond quickly …to the critical issues affecting

women as they emerge… and pivot as our national dialogue shifts.” (Marin-CA.AAUW.net)

There could be someone who needs legal advocacy for a pay equity or sexual harassment

issue, lobbying needed for a particular bill to pass in a state house or the US Congress, or a

new threat to Title IX. This fund is also what fuels AAUW research and advocacy work.

Although the Equal Rights Amendment was initially proposed to Congress in 1923, and

endorsed by the AAUW National in 1971, this important part of the constitution is still not

ratified!

We still have so much work to do to ensure women’s rights. AAUW is a powerful

organization that is nationally recognized and is an important resource to promote women’s

rights. AAUW deserves our support. You can easily donate to AAUW by going to AAUW.org and clicking on the red Donate button on the home page. The Greatest Needs fund (9110) is the first description you will see, which indicates how important this fund is to our organization.

Your AAUW Marin Fund Committee is aiming for 100% of our members to make a donation this year. As a special incentive, all who donate, no matter what dollar amount, will receive a beautiful 3" pin specially designed for this AAUW MARIN fund raising event!

Please donate today - WE’RE NOT DONE YET!
