Is Your Website Patched?
This week you may have seen news headlines about PHP. Does it effect your small business? The PHP project disclosed two critical security flaws, nicknamed "PHP2Shell," in the software that runs most of the world's websites, including those built on WordPress, Joomla and Drupal. Researchers showed that an attacker could take over an unpatched site without a password or login. Public exploit code is already circulating, and CISA has warned organizations to patch immediately.
For a small business, your website is more than an online brochure. It may handle contact forms, customer logins, payments or links to your email and other systems. A compromised site can be used to steal data, spread malware to your visitors or get your domain blacklisted, and many owners don't know which PHP version their site runs or who is responsible for updating it.
The fix is straightforward: update PHP to the latest patched version as soon as possible, and confirm with your hosting provider or web developer that it's been done.
