Economic Update: New Tariff Actions Raise Cost Concerns for Construction | Recent tariff actions involving Canadian imports and proposed expanded tariff authority under a new sanctions bill could increase uncertainty for contractors already managing supply chain and cost pressures. After a three-day pause, the 50% tariffs on many Canadian imports took effect on August 22, 2026. Canada responded by imposing retaliatory tariffs on a range of U.S. products, which will take effect on September 8, 2026.
