City of St. Pete Launches Online Public Art Collection, Making It Easier to Discover Art Across the City

The City of St. Pete is making it easier than ever for residents and visitors to discover the art that helps make St. Pete a vibrant and creative city.

The City has launched its public art collection on the Public Art Archive, an interactive online platform that allows users to explore St. Pete’s public artwork, learn about the artists and artworks, and discover where pieces are located throughout the city.

The online collection can be explored at Public Art Archive – City of St. Petersburg, Florida.

St. Pete’s public art collection includes more than 91 works representing a wide range of artistic styles, materials and forms, including sculptures, mosaics, murals, photographs, paintings, monuments, fountains, stained glass and more. Many of these works are in public spaces where they can be enjoyed every day by residents and visitors.

“Public art is one of the ways St. Pete tells its story,” said Celeste Davis, Arts, Culture & Tourism Director. “This new online collection gives people another way to experience the artwork throughout our city — whether they are discovering a piece for the first time, looking for a favorite artwork, learning about a local or nationally recognized artist, or planning their own public art adventure.”

Through the Public Art Archive, users can browse the collection and search and filter artworks by criteria such as artist, material, placement, type, year, city and theme. The platform also provides an interactive map, making it possible to discover public art based on location.

From iconic works such as Gladiolus Blossom, Morning Stars, Myth and Water Landings to artworks found throughout neighborhoods and City facilities, the collection offers residents and visitors an opportunity to see St. Pete from a different perspective.

The launch also provides a new resource for educators, art enthusiasts, visitors and anyone curious about the creative works they encounter while exploring St. Pete.
