📬 Mason Matters: Special Edition

Federal Layoffs Hit Home — And We Feel It First

As your Supervisor, I want to speak directly to an issue that’s hitting close to home: federal layoffs. When jobs are cut at the federal level, Northern Virginia doesn’t just feel the impact, we live it.

These decisions ripple through our neighborhoods, affecting not just federal workers, but local businesses, schools, housing, and the broader economic health of our region.

That’s why I joined Congressman Don Beyer to co-author an op-ed calling for urgent attention to the human and economic consequences of federal job losses. This isn’t just about numbers on a spreadsheet it’s about families, stability, and the future of our community.

Federal employment is deeply woven into the fabric of Fairfax County. When that thread is pulled, everything connected to it is at risk. We must prepare, adapt, and advocate together.

📰 I encourage you to read our op-ed here:

Federal Layoffs Are a Wake-Up Call for Local Communities

Let’s treat this moment with the urgency it deserves. Thank you for staying engaged and for all you do to keep our community strong.

Sincerely,

Andres Jimenez

Mason District Supervisor
