Support Winston’s Culinary Program!

The Winston School’s Culinary Program empowers students to build independence, develop practical skills, and engage in meaningful, hands-on learning. Through initiatives like “Farm to Table” and the Culinary Café, students learn culinary skills in a team environment—all while directly applying what they’ve learned in their math, science, and language arts classes.

From gardening and meal preparation to hosting community events, students gain practical skills, explore cultural food traditions, and engage in confidence-building projects. The program develops lifelong skills, encourages healthy eating habits, and fosters strong connections with peers, families, and the broader Winston community. Your support helps make these experiences possible!

As a 501(c)(3), your tax-deductible donation to The Winston School immediately benefits our students' learning environment. All contributions — no matter the amount — light the path for student growth. Your gift impacts students immediately, providing opportunities that shape this school year.

Be among the first to help us spark a brighter future!

Mr. Jacobsen and Ms. Thomas attended the Wellness Together Conference, where educators, counselors, and mental health professionals came together to learn and share strategies for student well-being and mental wellness. They learned helpful tools and interventions to support student resilience, stress management, and all aspects of SEL (social-emotional learning). They are excited to bring back all that they have learned to Winston to continue supporting our students.

Chef Isabelle Baril, kitchen powerhouse and top chef finalist, visited the Winston School’s culinary class to kick-start the Asian food unit. The students participated in a hands-on activity where they made delicious and healthy spring rolls and sunflower butter dipping sauce. Chef Isabelle shared during this time her inspirational story of living with hearing loss and the strategies she uses to advocate for herself.  Thank you, Chef Isabelle, for visiting our campus and sharing your inspirational story and delicious food!

Pawsitive Teams Returns to Winston!

We’re excited to welcome Pawsitive Teams back to campus! For the next six weeks, students will have the opportunity to work with these amazing volunteers and their specially trained therapy dogs. Interested students not participating in this six-week session will have an opportunity in the next session.

Students are partnered with the same trainer and dog for the full six-weeks, developing a "pawsitive" relationship with one another. Students develop their communication skills, learn how to train the dog with basic commands, interact with the handlers, and benefit from the calming presence of the special animals. Winston School is grateful to Pawsitive Teams for their longtime support and care of our community.

Penny Wars

Winston students and staff are participating in Penny Wars for the entire month to raise funds for Rady Children’s Hospital, the student’s choice charity organization. Each classroom has a jar where Spirit Month teams can earn positive points by adding pennies and other coins, while dollar bills placed in rivals’ jars count as sabotage and deduct points. Everyone is encouraged to donate and join the fun, supporting a great cause together.
