As we observe the 25th anniversary of September 11, our school community pauses to remember the innocent lives lost in the attacks of September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage of the first responders, service members, volunteers, and everyday people who helped others in a time of great need.

The Winston School staff and students focused our attention this morning during Advisory class connecting this remembrance with positive action. We discussed how the nation and all communities came together during this time of great need, helping, supporting, and healing one another. This mutual support and care for one another can continue to be a positive way to process the emotions of the event through compassion, service and good deeds. Each student and staff member took a moment to reflect how they, as an individual, can connect remembrance with positive action, honoring the memory of this national tragedy.

May we honor those affected by showing kindness, respect, and care for one another every day.

Please join us for our first Parent Association meeting of the year! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other families, learn more about the exciting events and activities planned for our school community, and share your ideas.

Whether you would like to help plan an upcoming event, join a focus group, volunteer when your schedule allows, or simply stay informed, there are many ways to get involved. We hope to see you there and look forward to working together to make this a great year for our students and families!

Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 29th, from 6-7pm on Zoom.

Admissions Season is Here

The community we've all come to know and love as Winston is unique in so many ways, a uniqueness that allows each person to find their own way to belong. This extends to the unique place we hold in San Diego's educational landscape as both a Private Independent School and a Non-Public School. It's a place and a responsibility to help families discover Winston and discern whether it's the right place for their student to find their potential and succeed.

Traditionally, this time of year marks the beginning of admissions season across private schools; applications, tours, open houses, a flurry of excitement and interest. Winston stands out once again. We operate on a rolling admissions system, meaning we welcome, process, and complete the admissions journey with any family at any point in the year. Our excitement never stops! We know that finding the right school is often a journey, and that journey can land a family on our doorstep any day of the year.

We know students discover they aren't quite in the right place at all different points along their educational path, and when that happens, Winston is ready to meet them there. Whether a family is exploring options for the fall or realizing mid-year that their child needs something different, our admissions process is always open and ready to help them find whether Winston is the right fit for their family and student.

This is where you come in!

As our path to significant enrollment growth over the next few years continues, word of mouth remains one of the most powerful ways families find us. So if you know a parent whose child hasn't quite found their place yet, please send them our way. Your story, your journey to Winston, it matters. You might be the reason a family finds exactly where they belong.
