HB1828 Passed the House Today!

πŸŽ‰We are celebrating today as the Virginia House of Delegates passed HB1828 with a vote of 99-0!! VBCF and our advocates have worked on this bill with chief patron Delegate Simonds for the last three years. Our persistence has paid off!

The bill will now "crossover" to the Senate for consideration starting tomorrow. Crossover is the halfway point of the 2025 General Assembly session. At this point, each house may consider only the legislation and amendments of the other house. ο»ΏThe House and Senate versions of this bill (HB1828/SB1436) are identical and received unanimous support, so their consideration in the other chamber is procedural. At this point, we do not anticipate anything stopping their progress in their respective chambers.

Please consider sending Delegate Simonds a quick email of gratitude (DelSSimonds@house.virginia.gov) for her leadership and to your State Delegate for their vote. You can find their contact information here: Who's My Legislator.

Thank you again for your advocacy!

Background:

HB1828/SB1436 will eliminate the high out-of-pocket costs (co-pays, co-insurance or deductibles) that many patients face when getting follow-up diagnostic or supplemental breast imaging, including diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).
