Greetings to the Ministers of Trinity!
Ministry Moment with Sarah Martinez
|
- Q: Through whom does the Church carry out its mission? A: The Church carries out its mission through the ministry of all its members.
- Q: Who are the ministers of the Church? A: The ministers of the Church are lay persons, bishops, priests, and deacons.
- Q: What is the ministry of the laity? A: The ministry of lay persons is to represent Christ and his Church; to bear witness to him wherever they may be; and, according to the gifts given them, to carry on Christ's work of reconciliation in the world; and to take their place in the life, worship, and governance of the Church.
Greetings to YOU -- one of the ministers of the Church! I love how the catechism mentions lay persons first when it outlines the list of "ministers of the Church." It's the lay-led groups that truly keep Trinity "ticking." I am so grateful for all the ways you represent Christ each and every day!
September 17 is Connect Sunday at Trinity. At 10:45 a.m. in the Parish Hall you're invited to explore how you're called to serve the Church. Ministry Groups will have displays describing their work. Representatives will be on-hand to introduce you to each group's mission and vision. I look forward to seeing you there!
On a personal note: I ask for your prayers as I embark on a new adventure this fall. Starting in August I will begin working on a master's degree at Brite Divinity School. This is in addition to my full-time work at Trinity. I appreciate your encouragement! I'm particularly excited by the propspect of studying the history of lay ministry and how it can be expanded to strengthen the Church that we all love so much.

Support our clergy this summer!
|
Let's send some love, food, and hands-on help to clergy serving Trinity! Keep reading to see how you can help:
Rev. Dr. Wil Gafney -- Trinity member and frequent guest preacher/celebrant -- could use some meals, handyman help, and "self-care" opportunities as she navigates some challenges. Please click here to learn more.
Rev. Jason Myers, our Associate Rector, and his family welcomed a new addition last week! Say hello to Annie Simone! You can help the Myers with meals by clicking here. They also have an Amazon baby registry set up. On Sunday, July 30 we'll gather in the Parish Hall at 10:45 a.m. to celebrate Annie's arrival.
