From the Pastor
Summer is a time of travel for many. Snowbirds return to the Northwoods. Year-rounders take vacation time elsewhere. Kids and grandkids and faraway friends come for a visit. And here at Bethesda and Immanuel we'll be traveling too.
The season following Pentecost is often called "Ordinary Time." It's a looong season, stretching almost into Advent, but "ordinary" is not the same as "flavorless"! Rather, ordinary refers to the ordinal numbers describing the relative position of members of a set (first, second, third, etc.), for example, the 27th Sunday after Pentecost!
And it also points to the measured walk through Jesus' teachings that characterizes lectionary readings in this season. We will be traveling with him from Jerusalem to Samaria to Galilee and back again, while he demonstrates to us the many ways in which God is continually nurturing and sustaining us.
While we travel together, we'll also be looking at ways in which we as the church can support and sustain each other and our communities. We'll roll out a few new opportunities to be in conversation together, in service with one another, and in worship together and with others. And of course we will continue in our weekly pattern of worship and fellowship at home.
Glad to be your companion on the journey.
Christ's peace,
Pastor Connie

Reconciling in Christ Statement
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28
We welcome YOU to Bethesda and Immanuel to participate fully in our congregational life. You who may have experienced exclusion, injustice or racial inequity; You who are young, old, rich, poor; You of all abilities; You from all nations and ethnic backgrounds; You of all sexual orientations, gender identities or gender expression.

A message from Alla
The month of May was a month when we were actively involved in travel, going to different events. We began to travel more often and further. We went to the circus with the children, which brought joy to the adults too. We were recently in Duluth at the aquarium. Oleg was traveling to Milwaukee on business at the same time. We take Victoria to a speech therapist to improve her language. Of course, we continue projects, not everything goes according to plan, but we do not despair. We continue to move in the chosen direction.

We Are All One
Pride Month Service, June 30, 5:00 pm, Memorial Park, Washburn
Equality is greater than division =>÷
LGBTQ+ folks, friends, and family will gather at Memorial Park in Washburn on Sunday, June 30, for a 5:00 pm Pride celebration service. All are welcome as we celebrate the gifts of queer people to the church and the world, and raise up the hope of equality for all.
The goal of this service is to fiercely declare that we are so much stronger as a nation when we look for common ground. Bring a lawn chair for the 5:00 pm worship, a dish to pass, beverage, and a joyful attitude for the potluck following the service.
Participating clergy include Mark Ricker and Lawrence Lee from Bayfield, Connie Monson from Bayfield and Cornucopia, Teena Racheli from Washburn, Kristin Boland from Washburn and Port Wing, Rachel Sieja and Stacy Craig from Ashland. For more information contact Nancy Hanson at 715 209-1100.
