At the May 27 school board meeting, Superintendent
Michael Baumann shared a report on the request to renew an operating levy and a capital projects levy,
| | | |
both originally approved by the community in 2015. Full recaps, meeting materials, and future meeting dates can be found on the district website.
-
Operating Levy Renewal: If renewed, this levy would generate approximately $1.7 million annually for the next 10 years, with no increase to the tax rate. Funds support elementary art, fifth-grade band, and current high school class sizes. Operating levies previously approved by the community may be renewed once by school board vote.
-
Capital Projects Levy Renewal: If renewed, this levy would generate approximately $4 million annually for the next 10 years, also with no increase to the tax rate. Funds support career pathways opportunities, cybersecurity-managed response systems, safety and security equipment, and educational technology. Capital project levies must be renewed through a community election, although the state legislature is currently considering a bill that would allow school boards a one-time renewal option, similar to operating levies.
