Practical communication insights from EST
AUGUST 2026 EDITION
Hello ,
You know me as the persuasion guy. Elevator speeches, message houses. I am not stopping that work. But I have built something different: a workshop about what comes before persuasion.
Persuasion assumes you already know what you want the other person to think. Sometimes that assumption is exactly the problem.
The colleague who disagrees with the direction. The community member who shows up frustrated. The funder whose priorities are changing. The relative who sees the world completely differently.
We are taught how to make our case. We are rarely taught how to have the conversation before making it, or how to let what we hear change what we say.
So I built a workshop for that.
The method is four questions plus one move you make after each answer. You watch it done live, then practice it yourself. About half an hour of the ninety minutes is you talking with one other participant. The method is small enough to still be in your head a year from now.
I am running the full workshop on August 20, and Monthly Nugget readers are invited free. In return, I'd love your honest input afterward: three questions by email, about two minutes.
This is a live, participatory workshop rather than a webinar, so please join only if you can take part for the full 90 minutes. Because the practice happens face-to-face in pairs, please plan to have your camera on.

Two small things to have ready, both explained when you register: a topic where reasonable people might disagree, and a sticky note and marker nearby.
See you there.
