Greetings!
Whenever I travel around Vermont, I’m amazed by the places I see and the stories I hear. Vermont is a joyfully dynamic place, and there have always been consistent stories of ingenuity, resilience, and hope. From the hill farms, to our villages and downtowns, it’s the spaces and places where Vermonters gather and visit with their neighbors, or quietly reflect, that help tell the story of that dynamism and embody the values that remain.
Preserving these special places, ensuring a shared future for Vermonters, new and old, is the work of the Preservation Trust of Vermont. PTV has been at it for forty years--we are not about to slow down now. While I’d be hard pressed to think of a year that has seen more change than this one, PTV has responded with creativity and resolve. We look forward to working with you in the months and years ahead to save what’s special about our brave little state.
With that in mind, PTV is excited to announce the opening of the Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant program. Paul, perhaps more than anyone, knew how special Vermont communities are. Established through the continuing leadership and dedication of Senator Patrick Leahy, and renamed in Paul's honor, this program will provide critical funding to community projects that preserve community gathering places and increase the economic and cultural vitality of Vermont.
I hope to see you (safely) soon in your community, to learn more about what makes it special and why you call it home. Best, Ben
Ben Doyle, President
