Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Early voting starts today and continues until November 3rd. I have had countless calls from friends and neighbors asking Who is Karyn Cunningham supporting? If you guessed Leanne Tellam for Vice Mayor of Palmetto Bay and Steve Cody for Councilmember for District 2, you got it right!
And I am not alone! Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, our Police, and Councilmember Patrick Fiore (as well as hundreds of amazing residents) are also supporting Leanne and Steve.
So what do we know that you may not?
The issues we are tackling together, including over-development, traffic, and our environment, require people working together to build consensus and then moving forward unified, not through deploying scare tactics, bullying and creating fear and chaos. Leanne and Steve have done just that!
Together in the last 4 years, we have:
✔️ Set the Village back on solid financial ground and achieved AAA bond rating.
✔️ Acquired the sixth park space in Palmetto Bay (Veterans Park) and are working on the seventh (Tanglewood Linear Park).
✔️ Kept taxes low and our millage rate as one of the lowest in Miami-Dade County.
✔️ Supported our police so that we can maintain one of the lowest crime rates in Miami-Dade.
✔️ Moved to a more sustainable and resilient Palmetto Bay by achieving a CRS rating of 5, decreasing our flood risk and saving homeowners money on flood insurance premiums.
✔️ Added quality programming and events for the young and the young at heart.
✔️Decreased height and density in our Village and stood strong in pushing back county overreach.
✔️Broke ground on a new Recreational Center at Coral Reef Park.
✔️✔️✔️ And so much more....
I have had the opportunity to serve our Village for ten years as Councilwoman, and now as Mayor. Of those years, the last four have been the most impactful because of the people that I have served with. I admire Leanne's and Steve's leadership and decision to continue their legacy of service by serving and advocating for the well-being of our community so that future generations may enjoy the qualities that make living, working, learning, and playing here so special.
