Membership Status: Membership is not active until a member’s registration is entered into 4HOnline and approved by the County Office. A youth participates in 4-H by belonging to a chartered 4-H club or county program or any recognized unit of membership in the county where he/she resides. *Membership cannot be held simultaneously in more than one county or state, but membership may change with residence.

Cross County Transfers: A Cross County Transfer is the process in which a 4-H member /family needs to participate in an adjacent county that they do not currently reside in/or attend school in. The family should complete a “Request to Transfer Membership Form” and submit to the County Extension Office in which the 4-H member desires to be a member. The form must be submitted a minimum of 30 days prior to a membership transfer.

Volunteer Enrollment Updates

4-H Adult volunteers must be at least 18 years old – or 21 years old to chaperone overnight trips – and pass a criminal background check outlined in the Extension Volunteer Standards. Additionally, 4-H adult volunteers must enroll on 4HOnline, pay the annual volunteer application fee ($10), and complete 2 online trainings.

NEW! Sterling Volunteer Background Checks will be integrated with 4HOnline. What does this mean? When a 4-H adult volunteer enrolls, they will be prompted to open a new internet tab directing them to Sterling when he/she reaches the background check (Screening) portion. This will occur AFTER submitting the payment method. Volunteers will still need to complete the mandatory Child Protection & 4-H Volunteer Orientation trainings that follow the payment and Screening portion. Volunteer trainings are good for 2 years.

Each individual volunteer who enrolls will now need a UNIQUE email address. The login email address is the Family email address. Only one Adult Member may use the Family email address as their individual Member email address. Any additional volunteers in a Family profile need a unique Member email address to complete their screening.

Sterling’s online form will collect the private, personal information for the background check. It will NOT be stored in 4H Online. Screening will also begin immediately with this online form. See summary video

GLOBE
Global Leadership Opportunities Beyond Education

GLOBE is a multi-faceted program for youth in grades 7-11 to develop an understanding of poverty and what it looks like in various communities, explore culture, learn about sustainable agricultural practices, build upon personal leadership skills and to take action, addressing issues within the community. There are three separate educational programs beginning with a Global Village simulation at the 4-H Center in Brownwood, providing youth the opportunity to experience poverty, limited resources and life in a developing country, without actually traveling abroad. The second program is in Waco at Heritage Homestead where youth participate in hands-on workshops and demonstrations of sustainable agricultural practices. Youth share their knowledge and strengthen personal leadership skills by presenting two GLOBE programs and providing leadership for a service-learning project in their community. Three online webinars are held to prepare youth for the final educational program, a week-long immersive experience in Costa Rica to continue learning about culture, poverty, sustainable agriculture and nature-based tourism. Enrollment is limited annually to 25 youth; applications are available in September. The cohort of 25 youth are ‘together’ through July the following year.

The campaign will run October 5th - 16th. We encourage you to have a booth at the store one Saturday, or work with store managers to have additional 4-H signage near the registers. Click here to access the promotional toolkit provided by National 4-H.
Also, check out these frequently asked questions, provided by National 4-H.
FAQ-
Remind me again, what do these funds go to?
A: Scholarship for camp or 4-H leadership activities/programs.

How much goes back to the state it’s raised in?
A: 90%, 10% stays with Council. Funds raised in YOUR county go back to YOUR county!

What about online donations?
A: You can donate online with purchase. However, these funds cannot be tracked to the individual store, only the state.

Where do the paper clovers they hang up in the stores come from? Do we need to do anything for that?
A: Nope – TSC takes care of all that and ships them to the store in advance of the campaign.
