Pastor Trudy's Message

Stirring up all kinds of trouble! Paul and Silas are making their way from city to city and proclaiming the Good News about Jesus. They come to Thessalonica where Paul teaches from the Scriptures, proving that Jesus was the Messiah and that the Messiah would suffer and be raised. Some joined and believed and some didn't. So far it doesn't seem very controversial. How does the city end up in an uproar?  

Gracious God, some say Your Word turns the world upside down. Help us to ponder the possibility that the world is already upside down and Jesus is putting it back in order with a powerful message of new life on the other side of death. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Why does the message about Jesus cause trouble?

• Give us the persistence to do your work of justice even when we face strong pushback or personal risk.
• Wherever we live, fill us with mutual love for the natural world around us, that we would sustain the environments that sustain us.
• Open the minds of all who lead to new ideas and learnings from younger generations and other nations, that together we might solve the issues that negatively affect the whole world.
• Bring healing and wholeness to those recovering from injury or surgery, and to all whose health is challenged in any way.
