Hello families,
Kids always fill my bucket with their wisdom and unfiltered love! Especially when they notice the small stuff.
This Wednesday, several said " we missed you the last Wednesday when you were sick". And others asked how I was doing ( even though it had been a week and a half:) ). That's the thing with kids - when you don't think they are noticing, they surprise you.
What about us? Have we lost the ability to look for God in the ordinary? I wonder what God thinks when we surprise Him with tears at an eclipse, grins from ear to ear as the azaleas show forth, shouts of Alleluia! to the perfect sunset over the water. Is he laughing at our collective attention deficits. Is he upset that it takes such a big splash to get our attention?
But what would our relationship be like with our Mother, our Creator, our Ever-Loving One if we took time to notice the everyday miracles- the beautiful weed flower growing up through the crack in the sidewalk, the snail slowly inching its way up the trellis while the wind roars, my daughter's eyes filled with love as she sneaks a peek at me writing this email. I wonder how we would feel is we stopped to give thanks each day for the "regular miraculous". If we took a breathe in and just looked around before starting our day or took a quick walk at lunch with eyes open or made time to look up into the heavens at night before bed. How would it change us?
Join me for Parenting with God this Sunday during the Formation hour. We will meet up on the 3rd floor of Ellis Hall (you can bring your ice cream!), to share and learn together.
If you haven't taken the Survey yet, please do so before Monday - we need the voice of families with kids and youth.
Peace,
Kathy
