What is the
Proper
Arm Swing?
We are what we

excellence then –
is not an act –
but a habit.
~ Aristotle
For many years there has been a great deal of discussion, debate and confusion over arm swing has it relates to forward striding.
What are the correct biomechanics for forward skating especially when it relates to correct arm swing?

Sport Calgary's 2026 Celebration of Sport
Big Games,
Bigger Impact:
What Legacy Will We Leave Behind?
| |
Tucker Hockey's Head Instructor Damian Miah and Assistant Business Manager Candace DiGiacomo enjoyed an afternoon at Spruce Meadows for Sport Calgary's Celebration of Sport.
The theme “Big Games. Bigger Impact.” sparked discussion about the lasting legacy of major sporting events in Calgary. While events like the X Games, the Grey Cup, and the 2028 World Cup of Hockey can inspire young athletes, the greater opportunity is turning that inspiration into access through facilities, programs, coaches, volunteers, and community support.
The importance of initiatives such as GamePLAN encourages Calgary’s sporting community to work together to ensure future generations have opportunities to participate, discover new sports, and develop lifelong skills.
Ultimately, the legacy of big games isn’t just the event itself—it’s the young people inspired to dream, participate, and eventually help inspire the next generation.

Building Your
Shooting Toolbox

Cole Caufield celebrating a goal, he finished this past season 2nd in scoring for the entire NHL with 51 goals.
He is showing just how much he loves to score goals.
| |
Score More Part 1:
Building Your Shooting Toolbox emphasizes that great goal scorers develop a variety of shooting techniques, releases, footwork, and deceptive movements rather than relying on one powerful shot.
Players are encouraged to build strong fundamentals with wrist shots, snapshots, and backhands, then add adaptability by shooting while skating, changing direction, deking, and shooting from different positions.
The article also highlights the importance of learning from elite NHL shooters and developing a “next shot” mentality, understanding that even the best goal scorers miss far more shots than they score.
With consistent practice, creativity, and confidence, players can build a versatile shooting toolbox that becomes instinctive when game situations arise.

Adult Group
Program Testimonial
I recently attended the Adult Fundamentals and Specialty Skills programs. I really enjoyed the sessions and the coaching; I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’m grateful that Tucker Hockey provides programs for Adults who want to better their hockey skills and have more fun playing the game.
Finding quality coaching programs for those who have aged out of minor hockey or who are finding hockey later in life can be challenging. Tucker Hockey does an incredible job of meeting players where they are. Having played house league for 10 years, and men’s league for another 20, I was going into the programs with an open mind ready to correct my built-up bad habits and take in new learnings. My last couple of seasons have felt a little blah, I felt slower, less effective, and less engaged in the play.
I found the program structure really valuable, and I loved the focus on repetition and progression, it was a perfect approach to break down any bad habits and reinforce the proper mechanics. Through the 16 sessions, I picked up new skills, polished a LOT of old ones, and have a renewed vigor for hockey.
I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to Rex, Ron, Jimmy, Frank, Bobby, Mike, Korwin, Carter, Faith, and Alannah for all your guidance, professionalism, and passion for what you do. You helped reignite my passion for hockey and I’m feeling more confident than ever going into this upcoming season.
For any player of any skill level, I would highly recommend Tucker Hockey for your hockey development needs. Thanks so much!
