FRIDAY FLASH

October 22, 2021

A Message from Headmaster Scott

Dear Archway Trivium West Families,

One of our fantastic TAs brought this poem to my attention this week and I wanted to share it. Shakespeare can be a little challenging, even when one is familiar with the language of the time. It’s OK, I read it a few times myself. This is Sonnet 94. Please take the time to go through it multiple times if needed so you can fully enjoy this beautiful perspective on strength and temperance.

They that have power to hurt and will do none,

That do not do the thing they most do show,

Who, moving others, are themselves as stone,

Unmoved, cold, and to temptation slow:

They rightly do inherit heaven's graces

And husband nature's riches from expense;

They are the lords and owners of their faces,

Others but stewards of their excellence.

The summer's flower is to the summer sweet

Though to itself it only live and die,

But if that flower with base infection meet,

The basest weed outbraves his dignity:

For sweetest things turn sourest by their deeds;

Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds.

Heartily Devoted,

Dr. Clay Scott

Headmaster

As a reminder, picking up students from the Lifetime Fitness parking lot after school is NOT permitted. Students entering the Lifetime parking lot after school is dangerous and a safety issue. Lifetime is a private business and we want to be good neighbors. Please plan to use the school's published pick-up procedures for the safety of all. Thank you for your cooperation.

Attention K-7th Grade Families - Take the Roosevelt Interest Survey

roosevelt header.png

Dear Trivium Prep Kinder-7th Grade Families,

Our sister school, Archway Trivium East, is relocating to Buckeye for the 2022-23 school year, allowing them to expand to serve students grades K-8! In their new campus home, they will be known as Great Hearts Roosevelt. We are interested in learning if any current Trivium Prep or Archway West Kinder-7th grade families are interested in or planning to move to the new Great Hearts Roosevelt campus. If you are among those considering, please kindly take 1 minute to complete this survey by logging into your Parent Portal.

Thank you for your time!

With Devotion,

Archway Trivium West and Trivium Prep Team

PSO Goodwill Drive - Saturday, October 23, 1-3 PM

Mark your calendar and start cleaning out your closets! Our PSO Goodwill Drive will be held Saturday, October 23 from 1-3 PM at the school. Please review these COVID-specific donation guidelines before donating items. This year, only small appliances and small furniture will be accepted. Must be able to be easily lifted by one person and fit into bins provided (approximately 3.5' width x 3.5' length). Masks and social distancing are required during drop-off.

This event is open to the community, so please share with your friends! We earn money based on the weight of donations received, so the more, the merrier! Look for more details as the date approaches. Thank you for your support.

To accommodate our families, the PSO is offering additional drop-off times outside the Archway MPR for Goodwill donations:

Early Drop-off - Friday, October 22 from 5-7 PM

Early Drop-off - Saturday, October 23 from 8-10 AM

New this year, we will also be collecting old crayons and the following old writing utensils: pens, mechanical pencils, glue sticks, plastic water color kits, highlighters and sharpies. Writing utensils will be recycled through the Terracycle program. Archway Trivium West is eligible to receive compensation based on weight of recycled items.

Crayons will be manufactured into new, free crayons for kids in children's hospitals through the Crayon Initiative. Please separate crayons and writing utensils from other Goodwill Donations. Crayons will have one marked bin at the donation drop off and there will be a separate bin for other writing utensils.

Traffic Flow

Thank you for your patience and caution during student drop-off and pick-up. The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance.

As a reminder, to minimize the backup of traffic on Encanto/Bullard before the end of the school day, we are closing the Encanto entrance to our school parking lot from 2:35-3:00pm. Goodyear Police will be monitoring traffic on Encanto and Bullard during this time, and if you are stopped on one of these roads waiting to enter campus, you may be ticketed.

On Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, families who are picking up Archway-only students should arrive to campus AFTER 3:10 PM. Families picking up both Archway and Prep students, please remind your Prep students to arrive to the pick-up zone promptly.

On Wednesdays, families picking up BOTH Archway and Prep students are asked to arrive AFTER 1:40 PM. On Wednesdays, families picking up Archway-only should arrive at 1:25PM.

Parents picking up Archway students from school MUST use the Archway pickup line. Prep students picking up Archway students to meet a parent driver may NOT load into a car in the Prep pick-up line or on Palm Lane. The entrance/exit to our parking lot from Encanto Blvd is right turn only.

Please review the following links for the modified Traffic Flow and reach out to the front office with any questions.
