Happy New Year! 2025 is officially in the rearview mirror, and 2026 is here!

A new year is a time for big goals, fresh plans, and new possibilities. This month I am so very blessed to celebrate the start of my 7th year leading your Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce! I’m so thankful for this 87-year-old anchor institution in our business community and eagerly look forward to all we can accomplish together in the coming months.

Chamber Energy Solutions: Energy Market Update

Winter is here, and natural gas and electric markets alike must adapt to colder weather demands. The Chamber, and your CES consultant Emilie Snider (esnider@palmerenergy.com, or 419-491-1017) continue to be a resource for you and your business as energy markets brace for the cold.

Natural Gas Market Factors:

o Natural Gas Withdrawal Season

The natural gas withdrawal season, during which stored gas is utilized to meet winter demand, began at the end of November. Storage levels reached a peak of 3,960 billion cubic feet (BCF) at the start of the season. This is ~150 BCF higher than the 5-year average peak, but 12 BCF lower than the 2024 storage peak.
Withdrawal seasons typically last through April, with ~20 weeks of storage withdrawals.
