Announcing the Retirement of Deacon Mark Filbert, Our Esteemed Cantor and Brother in Christ

After twenty-three years of faithful service as Cantor of St. Paul Lutheran Community of Faith, Deacon Mark Filbert will be retiring September 14, 2025.

Mark has been a foundational part of this congregation’s worship and music program throughout the Church year. His participation and leadership in The Hymn Society, American Guild or Organists, as well as other professional music organizations, has provided leadership, deep knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the Lutheran liturgy., That is something that you just cannot find anywhere else in the Rocky Mountain Synod,” said former Bishop Jim Gonia.

We will greatly miss Mark and the way imparts such knowledge about the hymns we sing. As one visitor put it, “Your worship folder is like a music history class!” However, we celebrate this new chapter in his life and pray for God’s continued blessings on him and his family.

Please join us for a celebratory coffee hour immediately following worship that day. If you would like to contribute to his Farewell Gift fund you can do so through Zeffy, our on-line giving site HERE, and designate “For Deacon Mark”  or by mailing a check (designate “For Deacon Mark”)  to St. Paul Lutheran Community of Faith, P.O. Box 867, Denver, CO. 80201.

Please send information for News & Notes to the church office via email at office.support@stpauldenver.org no later than Thursday of each week for inclusion in that week's newsletter. Thanks very much.
