Just a couple of reminders why we should stay home if possible
The above photos were taken on the 183A Toll Road Tuesday. The overturned truck (at left) you see was treating 183A. It is not the City of Cedar Park's truck - but our Firefighters and Police Officers did respond to this accident. As you can see in the top right photo, 183A is closed in both directions because of ice.
Our streets crews continue treating other bridges, overpasses and major intersections throughout town - but many, like what you see above, are just not driveable.
Please help our emergency workers stay safe by staying at home and indoors, if possible, during these icy conditions. Driving and even taking a step outside on icy surfaces could prove extremely dangerous.
Be sure to protect your plumbing. During sustained periods of below-freezing temperatures:
- Drip and wrap outdoor faucets
- Note that if you use styrofoam cover like shown in photo, it is not advised to drip water
- You may also choose to let your faucets drip continuously inside your home while temperatures remain below freezing for an extended time
- If possible, keep your home heated inside to above-freezing temperature
- Open cabinet doors under sinks to expose pipes to heated air inside home
Remember to turn off your faucets completely when temperatures return to above-freezing.

We ❤️ Cedar Park Public Works Staff!
You've probably seen various City of Cedar Park crews around town, preparing us for this winter storm. Today, we're shining the light on some of our Public Works - Pump & Motor and Water Treatment Plant staff you might not see. They've been been working 'round the clock to make sure our Water Treatment Plant stands up strong to this storm.
Thank you to all of our Public Works crews, and to our Police and Fire First Responders who are working outdoors in these icy conditions! We ❤️ y'all!
