Climate Can-Do: Speaking Up for Nature

There will always be a struggle to balance society and nature; but we, as the society, have a say in how our environment is treated. We can speak up. We know keeping our environment healthy keeps us and our children healthy. It’s as simple as letting our local government know we care.

Local senators and representatives keep count of how many people contact them per issue. Because so many people spoke up about the algae blooms in Monponsett Pond (Halifax), it took a mere few years to clean it up. When we work together, we take important steps in caring for our earth. The more we do affects our quality of life. One way to get involved is the campaign to prevent radioactive waste from the decommissioned Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant from being dumped into Plymouth Bay. For more information, visit: www.saveourbayma.com.

Doing our part isn’t only about limiting our environmental footprint– it’s about community, and caring for every living thing within it. Advocating for our environment is one of the most crucial things that can be done. Contact local government officials and join in campaigns like Save Our Bay. Helping the planet is just a few steps away.

Bridgewater Public Library's #ProjectGiving

Throughout the month of April, the Bridgewater Public Library is partnering with Keeping Pace with Multiple Miracles for their #ProjectGiving. They are asking for donations of gently used baby clothes, small toys, and any general, baby-related equipment. If you’d like to donate, please note that every item must be clean, and toys should not be broken or have any missing pieces! They will also not accept any large items.

Keeping Pace with Multiple Miracles (KPMM) was founded by Donna Baker and Pam Pace after looking for support due to giving birth to multiple children. Although Pam and Donna both gave birth to triplets, they learned that they had two very different experiences with their pregnancies. Donna had a fairly smooth pregnancy, while Pam’s was wrought with complications. Their differences reminded them that each pregnancy is unique, and they realized that every mother needs unique support.
Though they met in a twin support group, Pam and Donna found it was not sufficiently helping their needs. They discovered that mothers of high multiples had little time to do things, found it difficult to maintain relationships, and could not even make it out of their homes. The women eventually decided that other mothers of multiples would benefit from the same type of friendship and supportive connection they had found in each other. Thus, they founded KPMM to meet the needs of all mothers of multiples. Their main goal has been to form a network of families to offer support in coping with the challenges that come with parenting multiples. If you are able to donate, please do! You can find KPMM’s donation instructions on here.
For more information on KPMM, visit their website or call them at (508) 559-0040.

Our Earth

“The environment is where we all meet; where all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share.” ~ Lady Bird Johnson

“What is the use of a house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?”
~ Henry David Thoreau, Familiar Letters

“Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.”~ Khalil Gibran, Sand and Foam

“We rich nations, for that is what we are, have an obligation not only to the poor nations, but to all the grandchildren of the world, rich and poor. We have borrowed it from our children and we must be careful to use it in their interests as well as our own.” ~ Moss Cass
"You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." ~ Jane Goodall
