To all ADTOI Members,
Dear
Members
Hon'ble Minister of Tourism had called for an urgent meeting at 11:30 AM today to discuss the next steps for the Tourism, Travel & Hospitality industry as he deals with the severe onslaught of CoVID19. A ten-member multi association team met the Minister and the senior leadership of the Tourism industry.
We have quickly flagged with him the following support measures needed to be put in place in handling the crisis and preparing for a revival which will help the tourism industry in tiding over its cash crunch:
1.
A 200% weighted exemption of expenses to corporates on all domestic conferences.
2.
A six to nine months’ moratorium on all principle and interest payments on loans and overdrafts.
3.
Deferment of GST & Advance Tax payments at the Central Government level and removal of fees for any upcoming licenses/permits renewal/ Excise exemption for liquor for the hospitality and travel industry across the states.
4.
A complete GST Tax Holiday for the Tourism, Travel & Hospitality Industry for the next twelve months till the time the recovery happens.
5.
Restoration of the SEIS scrips for duty credit of 10% to Tourism, Travel & Hospitality industry.
6.
Relaxation in the MDA terms.
7.
A national tourism task force of the Centre and the State which meets regularly and develops the revival plan and fast tracks investment approvals.
8.
Advisory to airlines to not levy cancellation fees/ issue full refunds or issue credit notes.
9.
Usage of the MNREGA funds to support salaries of employees in the Tourism, Travel & Hospitality industry till the time revival happens.
10.
Fast track all GST refunds for the industry wherever they are getting stuck.
11.
300 basis point interest rate reduction and immediate transmission to the industry on term loans and working capital loans.
12.
The proposed TCS on travel in Finance Bill 2020 not to be introduced.
13.
Automatic increase in working capital limits by 50%.
14.
Removal of X-Visa requirement for peaks.
15.
Help from the Minister in taking a FAITH delegation for meeting with the Prime Minister
These are some of the points that we have raised with the Minister of Tourism. Look forward to your inputs on any additional measures that can help in a revival and managing the crisis. We will be keeping you updated with these and additional measures that we are taking.
Let’s all stand together in this extreme and difficult conditions to fight with this unwanted situation.
