Convention '58

A few words

from Tusi

The 2027 Episcopal Diocese Convention, held on October 16 & 17, was a momentous event celebrating the end of Bishop Bob's journey as the fifth Episcopalian Bishop of Hawaiʻi.

We were honored to hear from two distinguished speakers, Franciscan Brother Clark Berge and Dr. Jenny Te Paa Daniel, a scholar, teacher, public theologian, and global leader within the worldwide

Anglican Communion.

The highlight of the convention was a special tribute to the life and ministry of Bishop Bob during his service as Bishop of Hawaiʻi, Guam, and Saipan. Heartwarming stories shared by many brought both laughter and tears. A particularly memorable story was told by his wife, Bea. Her entertaining account of how they met, their travels abroad, and their life together, blessed with two wonderful sons and cherished grandchildren, filled the room with

laughter and joy.

It was a truly magical reflection on a life well lived and lovingly shared.

Daughters of the King

This past Sunday 10/18, the Holy Nativity chapter of DoK held a lovely "Admission" ceremony for two new Daughters, Catherine Nurmi and Taueva Lino.

We were joined by Adele Thomas the DoK president, who presided over the ceremony.

After, we gathered for food and fellowship, and of course, cake!

Celebrating All Saints

Nov 1st

An invitation from the Rev. Alison Dingley

November 1st is the Feast Day on which the Church celebrates All Saints. It falls on Sunday this year and also happens to be the 48th anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood.

Rev. Jenn and I agreed that we could celebrate this by having a special Prayers of the People honoring all the saints in our lives and offering an opportunity for those who wish to gather around a table for coffee hour to share about the saints who have inspired them.

It was a blessing for me to be ordained on All Saints Day. The sainthood of all sorts of people was a theme of my ordination service, and I'm asking for your help in honoring and praying for the saints in all our lives on Sunday Nov 1st.

I invite you during the coming week to think of saints important to you. They can be living or dead, people who touched your life or saints known in history.

If you wish, I would ask you to email the HNC office with names to include in the prayers of the people.

I will have separate intentions for saints from history, saints we remember who have passed on, contemporary saints we admire, and saints among our families and friends who have made a difference in our lives.

I'm looking forward to celebrating All Saints Day with you all at Holy Nativity and to sharing about the saints in our lives.

What a weekend!

Close to 2,000 people came to campus on Saturday for our 14th Annual Great Pumpkin Festival — and what a GREAT Pumpkin Festival it was!

In the Nave, Holy Nativity hosted "Take a Break" respite time for youngsters and their families. Our own Amie Lawyer made sure there were lots of quiet time crafts and activities. Mahalo Amie!
