Mulmur Roads Update
Bridge 8: River Road
Due to an error in historical drawings of Bridge 8 that was uncovered in early July when the old bridge deck was removed, the proposed steel supports (girders) that hold the bridge deck in place could not be used. New engineering drawings and new girders had to be sourced, fabricated, and tested, which caused a significant delay in the project schedule. Seven girders were installed on September 29, 2025. The project is anticipated to be completed in November.
Dufferin County Road Studies
The County of Dufferin has recently completed safety audits on County Road 21 (Honeywood) and the intersection of Dufferin Road 19 and Dufferin Road 17. To learn more visit the Dufferin County website.

Dufferin OPP Introduce CAMSafe
The Dufferin detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has implemented the CAMSafe program. CAMSafe is a program aimed at creating a database of residential and commercial security cameras within a community that may act as a resource for police when investigating offences/crime.
When a police officer uses the CAMSafe database they will see a map of the local area. Officers can click on registered addresses to view further details, such as property owner contact information. Officers cannot access your security cameras or cloud-based accounts. If police would like to examine camera footage, they can make a request to the property owner using contact information from the database.
Interested community members are only required to provide basic contact information and camera location but, can include more details if desired, such as direction the camera faces, footage retention details or screenshots of the camera view. Registrants can only view their own information and can delete their account or change their information at any time.
To learn more about the CAMSafe program and to register security cameras please visit https://camsafe.ca/

Green Tip: Leave the Leaves
As we transition from summer sunsets to crisp evenings, it's the perfect time to embrace seasonal changes and explore new ways to care for our environment.
One of the first signs of fall is the cascade of colourful leaves blanketing our yards. While many see this as a chore — raking, bagging, and discarding — there's a more eco-friendly approach that benefits both your lawn and the planet.
What should you do instead? Rather than removing leaves entirely, try mulching and spreading them evenly across your yard. This prevents dead patches on your lawn and allows the leaves to break down naturally. You can also pile mulched leaves around the base of trees or over garden beds to help insulate the soil during winter and protect its microbial life. Composting is another great option!
Dead leaves play a vital role in nature’s cycle. So this fall, consider leaving the leaves — your garden (and the environment) will thank you!

News Update from "The North of 89 Alliance"
A new community-driven nonprofit is making waves north of Highway 89. Born from the passionate efforts to protect the Honeywood Arena, The North of 89 Alliance is the latest chapter in a growing story of local pride, perseverance, and people coming together for a common good.
The organization grew out of the successful My Honeywood Campaign Cabinet, a volunteer-led movement that is raising funds for the arena to rebuild, reimagine and renovate the old arena. What started as a campaign to protect a beloved local space has blossomed into something much bigger: a nonprofit focused on supporting and celebrating all communities located north of Highway 89.
At its heart, The North of 89 Alliance is about one simple idea: Good People Doing Good Things.
“Our roots are in Honeywood, but our mission now stretches across all the towns and rural areas north of the 89,” said one of the Alliance’s founding members. “We’re just neighbours helping neighbours — and that’s what makes this so powerful.”
One of the Alliance’s first major achievements came this past summer with the launch of Cobstock, a community festival filled with live music, baseball, and family fun. The event was a resounding success, drawing hundreds of people and raising significant funds to support much-needed upgrades to the local arena — a vital space for recreation and community connection.
“The energy at Cobstock was incredible,” said another volunteer. “It reminded us what’s possible when people show up for each other. We turned a great day into real impact — and that’s exactly what The North of 89 Alliance is all about.”
With Cobstock setting the tone, the Alliance now aims to launch more initiatives that reflect the needs, values, and voices of our local communities. From cultural celebrations and youth programs to infrastructure projects and environmental efforts, their goal is to build momentum around what makes these communities strong.
“North of 89 is more than just a location — it’s a way of life,” said a board member. “We believe rural communities deserve the same opportunities, resources, and recognition as anyone else. That starts by working together.”
Moving forward, The North of 89 Alliance invites everyone — residents, businesses, and community partners — to get involved, lend their skills, or simply support the mission however they can.
Good people. Good energy. Good things ahead.
To learn more, donate, or find out how to get involved, follow The North of 89 Alliance on social media or visit their website.
