May Library Happenings in Delta County!

Grow with your community!

Welcome to May at Delta County Libraries! As spring settles in and the days grow longer, your libraries are blooming with opportunities to read, learn, grow, and connect. Whether you are looking for a fresh book to enjoy in the sunshine, upcoming programs for all ages, or quiet moments of self-reflection, explore everything Delta County Libraries has planned this month.

For many, shaking off the winter blues takes time. As temperatures rise, it's important to nurture not only your gardens but yourself as well. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, you're not alone -- May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Spending time outdoors, soaking up sunshine, and getting your hands into the soil can be wonderful mood boosters.

Your libraries offer resources to support both your garden and your well-being, even from home. With your library card, access a variety of courses through Universal Class, including vegetable gardening, landscaping, stress management, and anxiety support. Looking to grow something new? The Delta County Seed Library still has some packages of seeds at your libraries. To see what is still available, be sure to browse the Seed Catalog.

Delta County Reads is wrapping up with the WATCH portion of this popular family-friendly annual program. We had several fun field trips for kids to watch the film with their peers throughout Delta County. There's still time to enjoy a FREE showing of The Wild Robot with your kiddos at the Cedaredge Library. Visit Delta County Libraries website for showtimes and additional information about Delta County Reads.

There’s so much happening in Delta County Libraries this May! Whether you’re searching for your next great read, a place to connect, or inspiration for a new project, discover it at Delta County Libraries.

May Programs

Get Caught Reading

There is no better time than May to step outside and Get Caught Reading. In today's fast-paced, screen-filled world, promoting the joy and value of reading is more important than ever. That's the inspiration behind Get Caught Reading Month.

This annual campaign was launched in 1999 when the Association of American Publishers designated May as the time to celebrate reading and remind people that books are not only fun, but also powerful tools for learning, curiosity, and positive change. Reading helps shape informed, thoughtful individuals who truly can make a difference in the world.

Throughout May, we'll be out in the community snapping photos of readers in action and sharing them on social media. Want to join the fun? Tag us in your photos using #DeltaCountyLibraries and #GetCaughtReading and show us where reading takes you!
