Trinity Weekly News

July 16, 2026 | Trinity Episcopal Church, Staunton, Virginia

It's a bit of a quiet week around here(!), which feels about right for the middle of July, but there are a few things worth your attention.

Last Friday's Game Gathering had a great turnout and was a lot of fun. Who doesn't love Hues and Cues? Thank you to CJ Hill, Wendy Amato, and Crystal Fiechtl for putting it together! If you missed it, you'll get another chance soon: the next Game Gathering is Sunday, August 9 at 4 pm.

We've got two more Mass on the Grass services left this summer. If you've been holding back because it's July and you're roasting, don't: if it's too hot or stormy, we move the service and picnic indoors to McCracken Hall. So come anyway!

DID YOU KNOW?

Brad McNeill’s Thursdays at Trinity start at Noon Lunch, keeping the room running and an eye on everything. But the long stretch comes after, in the copy room, where he spends hours folding inserts into each Sunday bulletin. And he does it beautifully: crisp creases, corners that meet, every edge squared up just so. The next time you smooth open your bulletin on Sunday morning, that’s Brad’s handiwork!

Know someone who keeps things running behind the scenes and deserves a moment of recognition? Tell Katie so we can feature them. We have a lot of people to thank!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!

Seeking Docents

Trinity’s docent ministry is growing, and we are seeking more people interested in learning about our grounds well enough to show them off. Docents lead tours for visitors curious about the architecture, the history, the churchyard, all 280 years of it. Tell the real story behind the Tiffany windows instead of just pointing and saying “aren’t they pretty!” Two training sessions are set for July: July 21 or July 27, both 2-3:30 pm. Can’t make either one? Additional trainings are planned for September.

Register for one of the dates in July here: bit.ly/trinitydocent

or contact Rev. Cara for more info!

Seeking Greeters

Some walk through our doors Sunday morning knowing exactly where they're going. Others don't. The Greeter Ministry is for parishioners who want to help newcomers find their footing at Trinity.

Greeters arrive a few minutes before the 10:30 Eucharist, welcome people at the door, and stay present after the service for anyone who has questions or just needs a friendly face to orient them. For someone walking in unsure, being seen matters more than almost anything!

If you’d like to be that person at the door, contact Katie at communitylife@trinitystaunton.org or 580-579-8493.

TRINITY IS HIRING NURSERY WORKERS

Sunday mornings and, in the fall, Tuesday evenings. $16.50/hr. Must be 18 or older and pass a background check. If you're interested, give Ana a call, or send the info along to someone who'd be a good fit!

YOUTH NEWS UPDATE

The most recent Youth News Update from the diocese includes a slideshow of this summer's Grace House on the Mountain mission trip. Check it out here!

If you're interested in participating in a(n adult) mission trip to Grace House, we'll be teaming up with Emmanuel for our next trip—October 5-9! More info to come.
