Client Impact
Angel was referred to us after being diagnosed with a heart condition to connect him with a PCP and to support his family through the economic challenges as he is the sole provider for his family. His Promotora quickly applied for Medi-Cal, but unfortunately, since it was not approved before his first cardiologist appointment, we paid for the visit and medications to maintain a continuum of care. Angel was told he would need to lose weight and keep track of his blood pressure, so we purchased a scale, taught him how to measure his blood pressure, provided Spanish-language nutrition education and provided food for the family. Recently, the family called their Promotora jumping for joy to notify her that Angel’s Medi-Cal was approved, and they would cover his medical costs going forward. Today, Angel is set up with a PCP, health insurance and a cardiologist. We continue to work with the family to get them connected to food banks and other resources while his condition begins to stabilize.

“We are so grateful to have been connected to Medi-Cal and a specialist for Angel’s condition. When he was first diagnosed, we had no idea how we were going to get him treatment or keep our family of 7 housed and fed. Thanks to the LLC and our Promotora, Angel is getting the treatment he needs, and we know we continue to have your support while we get back on our feet.”

Mami y Yo Calendar
Water Day with Mami y Yo
Our little ones, their moms and our staff had a blast getting wet and playing in water! The kiddos enjoyed exploring the different types of water toys and cooling down from the heat together.

Entre Amigos Kitchen
At our last two Entre Amigos Kitchen classes, our youth team taught youth how to make hearty egg burritos and chicken fajitas. Our youth are learning how to cook with a variety of vegetables and becoming more confident in the kitchen and they continue to be interested in learning life skills and have requested specific recipes that they'd love to learn at home. We are looking forward to August's pupusa class!
Entre Amigos Wake Island
Entre Amigos took 17 youth to Wake Island Water Park. This was the first time for many at an adventure water park and they were so excited to have some fun in the sun. Completing the obstacle course quickly became a competition between them, but they never failed to support one another and check in on each other after their falls or when someone needed a break. We are so happy to have given the youth a way to cool down and have some fun before school starts.
Entre Amigos CA State Fair
Entre Amigos took 20 youth to the CA State Fair for the 2nd year in a row. The youth had a great time looking at all the different exhibits and trying out all the various types of foods! Although the day was very warm, they had a blast going on rides and continuously asked when the next event was going to be.
