It is hard to believe that our first month of school is quickly drawing to a close and we are welcoming Fall. Thank you for working together with our schools to help make the opening of our school year a positive experience for our children.

CALENDAR CHANGE
Please note the following calendar change: October 12th will be a work at home day for all students. Staff will have a professional development day.

A/B CALENDAR:

The October A/B Calendar was shared and can be found on the School Reopening Plan and Communication Page of the District Website. The Monthly A/B Calendar will be shared by the 20th of each month. The A/B Calendar restarts at the beginning of each month.
SCHOOL SECURITY/SAFETY DRILLS
The New Jersey Department of Education requires that schools conduct one fire drill and one security drill each month students are present. The Shamong School District will be adjusting their security and fire drill procedures as directed by the New Jersey Department of Safe Schools to adhere to social distancing and safety requirements due to COVID-19. Drills are conducted without prior notification to parents, students and staff.  

In the event of a real incident, timely and accurate communication with families is essential. Please be sure that your contact information is up to date in the Realtime Parent Portal. Our priority is the safety of our students and staff, followed by accurate communication to families.  
HEALTH SCREENING OF CHILDREN
Please be sure to complete the weekly Symptom Free Assurance for your child/children by Monday at 8am each week. A reminder is sent to parents on Monday at 7am

Do not send your child to school if they are not feeling well. Please be over cautious. Your cooperation is appreciated.
TRAVELING????
To save lives and prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Governor has issued a 14-day quarantine travel advisory that applies to certain “impacted states.” As of September 22nd there are 35 states and U.S. jurisdictions that meet the criteria of being impacted. It is your responsibility if you choose to travel to follow the quarantine rules.
COMMUNICATIONS
School Level Communications will be distributed via the weekly “Thursday Packet” and can be found under the Parent Resource link on each schools website.


The Shamong School District App is a great resource to provide you with “Everything Shamong Schools in Your Pocket.”  The App provides users direct access to the most recent news, announcements, and events and will be used for emergency notifications. The App is available on both Android and Apple devices… just search Shamong Schools in the Play or App Store.
SCHOOL LUNCH
School Lunches will be available to all students at no cost until December 31, 2020 as per USDA guidelines. Please visit the homepage of the district website for more information and to order meals.
