There’s been a lot going on since my last newsletter. A lot of good, and a little bad. Unfortunately, the bad can be magnified when it comes to a loss.
There have been a lot of losses around me this past year. And maybe because I’m getting closer to 50 (just turned 49 - 😊), these losses seem to impact me a little bit more as I’m getting older.
We all know about the celebrities who have passed recently. From Ozzy Osbourne, Malcolm-Jamal Warner from the Cosby show, to my wrestling hero growing up, Hulk Hogan, and the baseball player I also watched growing up, Ryne Sandberg. And then there’s one’s even closer. My clients and
close friends, who have lost their spouse, siblings, family members, to a wide variety of illnesses.
While this may seem like the most depressing newsletter opening ever, it does not come without a realization. We will not live forever. But realizing this is actually a healthy thing. Why?
Because it makes you realize what’s important in your life.
It makes you realize what you need to spend time on, and not waste time on.
It makes you realize WHO you need to spend time with, and not spend time with.
It gets your priorities in line.
You know what one of my top priorities is? Exercise. Of course, a trainer would say that, right? 😊 But here me out.
If I don’t exercise, I’m not my best version of me.
Plus, exercise has even more meaning to me personally. Exercise saved my life (car accidents, mental health). Exercise helped me grow as a person (achievements, failures, injuries). Exercise gave me opportunities (trainer, business owner, meeting really cool people and my mentors).
So, as we enter our last few weeks of summer, I want you to stop and reflect on YOUR life and priorities.
Are you living the life you wish to live? If not, what can you do about it?
Maybe things haven’t gone the way in your life as you planned.
It’s okay, you can redirect.
It all comes down to YOU.
Your choices. Your habits. Your thoughts. Your vision for your life. Your action steps.
And while we may never have control of everything in our life, we do have control over the above mentioned.
I’ll leave you with this. My coach mentioned to me a long time ago about a poem called, “The Dash.” It reminds us all how to live daily and the importance of the dash-mark between our date-of-birth and the ultimate day of our passing.
