You can now read the new issue of Bridges magazine online at the new Bridges website. The cover story focuses on alumni and SSW responses to the dual pandemics of 2020.

New 12-month Advanced Standing MSW program!
The University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work will offer a new 12-month Advanced Standing program starting in Fall 2021.

Students can now receive up to 21 credits applied towards the 60-credit MSW program!

Faculty diversity getting new attention with provost’s office duo
John Wallace, vice provost for faculty diversity and development, and a professor in the School of Social Work, is working on multiple initiatives to attract more faculty of color to Pitt. Read more in the University Times.
'Reverberation of Grief': COVID Losses Take Toll on Western Pennsylvania Residents, Communities
Amy DeGurian, field education coordinator and lecturer in Pitt's School of Social Work who specializes in grief and loss, says feelings of grief may have crept in for people who survived the past year, even if they didn’t lose a loved one. We all have lost “a sense of normalcy, a sense of safety and a sense that the world makes sense,” she said. Read more in the Tribune Review.

Copeland named to Provost's Council
Professor Valire Carr Copeland was named to the Provost’s Advisory Council on Tenure and Promotion (PACTP). PACTP is a new University-level faculty committee that will review and make recommendations to the Provost on promotion and tenure dossiers, as well as advise her on whether the recommendations at the academic unit level are consistent with the criteria and standards of the University of Pittsburgh.
New staff join the School of Social Work!
Kimberlee Barnhart joined as the new Recorder/Registrar and three new Restorative Practice Coordinators joined the Just Discipline Project: Jamaal Gosa, Spencer Scott, and Molly Means.

In addition, Elizabeth I. Osayande-Davis, MLIS
has taken the lead as the Director of Operations at the Just Discipline Project.
