Happy Holidays to you all!
Exciting News!
I just received a letter from AAUW national that we have been awarded all 5 stars in the FY24 Five Star Program!
Quoting from the letter...
"This is the highest level of recognition, reflecting your branch's outstanding dedication to advancing AAUW's mission of gender equity for women and girls. Earning all five stars signifies exceptional work across the program's key areas: Advancement, Public Policy and Advocacy, Governance and Sustainability, Programming, and Communications and External Relations. Your branch has demonstrated exemplary leadership, collaboration, and commitment to making a meaningful impact in your community and beyond."
Congratulations to you all!!
We had great fun at our December 7 luncheon at McInnis (see pictures below). 72 members celebrated what AAUW Marin does so well – enjoy the company of interesting women and support the education of women and girls with the annual Scholarship Fund auction and direct buys event. I can easily say it was a success. If you were outbid or missed out on Laura's toffee or Amy's origami, join the crowd! We are eagerly awaiting the final numbers to report. An enormous thank you to Dottie Burk, Dianne Sheridan, Pauline Nacamuli, Ann Thomas and their teams for the incredible work involved in the auction and direct buys. Thanks to Aileen Murphy, Larkspur had a tsunami of solicitations!
Looking for that perfect last-minute gift? I have 2 ideas for you. Open the letter this week from AAUW Marin Scholarship Fund and give generously! How about a special gift for you?! Check your email from AAUW national and AAUW-CA and make your voice heard. Pass the ERA amendment now! (or at least extend the deadline). Just takes a minute to remind our representatives we are still here and expecting results!
AAUW Marin board meeting: January 13th
Our agenda includes a review of the first half of the year, to plan the 2025-26 meetings, discuss DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion), and talk about spring events. (Feedback, comments, let me know!)
As you are aware, we have been moving to teams taking on some of the more comprehensive, time-consuming leadership positions. So, we are looking for candidates for the open positions on the 2025-2026 board: president-elect, treasurer, membership chair, public policy chair, and program chair, or members who would like to serve on a team. Yes, you are encouraged to self-nominate or just express interest or curiosity. Give Kathleen Clark (AAUW president July 2025-2026) or me a jingle, text, or email if you are interested in a board position or a specific team. Many hands make light work!
Have a wonderful, safe, and healthy holiday and New Year! See you January 29 at College of Marin.

It's Not Too Late to Donate to the AAUW Marin Scholarship Fund!
Our Fall fundraising drive for local college scholarships and Tech Trek is coming to an end. As mentioned in Lesie's chat, we are still tallying the results of the auction and will give you a more detailed report in January.
Thank you to the many of you who have participated in our fundraising efforts. If you haven't had a chance and/or still wish to donate to the Scholarship Fund, look for a letter from Scholarship Chair Laura O'Malley with options for donating. It's coming soon!
