Advancing Human Rights Committee revival
Bring your interests, ideas, and questions!
There are so many ways to support human rights! You are invited to meet with other interested WILPF members on –
Wednesday, June 30
5 pm PT / 6 pm MT / 7 pm CT / 8 pm ET
Register to get the Zoom link here.
Do you want to be part of national WILPF work on United Nations measures involving women? Or on immigration and border militarization? Other options include confronting mass incarceration, militarization of local police, racism, and other human rights matters. All of these can be part of the discussion at this meeting to renew WILPF’s national Advancing Human Rights (AHR) Issue Committee.
Join in educating and activating ourselves, other WILPFers, and the public around these important issues – working with branches across the country. We’ll hear from Philadelphia WILPF members who went to Brownsville, Texas to volunteer for a week helping immigrants traveling across the border. You can also learn from members with long-term interest and experience with United Nations activities, such as CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women) and UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (regarding women being equally represented in negotiations to end armed conflicts). AHR can include a group sharing ideas and plans for racial justice activism, supporting national initiatives and legislation. Other possible committee topics include mass incarceration and militarization of local police.
We will meet via Zoom or telephone, on Wednesday, June 30, at 5 pm PT / 6 pm MT / 7 pm CT / 8 pm ET.
Register here to join other WILPFers at the June 30 meeting. Your confirmation email will be from Jane Addams!
