Jake Price
1944 - 2019
Benell B. "Jake" Price Jr. died at age 75 on October 13, 2019, at his home in Grants Pass, Oregon, surrounded by his family and close friends.
Jake was born February 24, 1944, in Napa, California, to Benell and Edna Price. He was raised in Cedarville, California. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force, serving four years. After his honorable discharge, he lived in Washington state before moving to Carlton, Oregon, in the 1970s to train horses, mostly gaited horses.
Jake married Shirley in 1984. Jake and Shirley eventually turned their farm into Equestrian Wine Tours. Due to illness, Jake turned the business over to his nephew Tyler before moving to Grants Pass in 2017.
Everyone who knew Jake knew what a happy and friendly person he was. He never met a stranger.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #3 in McMinnville, Oregon, since 1992 and was a 32nd degree Mason. His hobbies included riding horses, traveling and spending time with his family and animals.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Shirley Price of Grants Pass; son, Donald Price of Dayton, Oregon; three nephews who were like sons to Jake, Winston Odon of Grants Pass, Tyler Odom of Carlton, and Robinson Odom of San Jose, California; sister Barbara Heryford of Cedarville, California; brother Buddy LaRue Price of Susanville, California; mother-in-law Betty Hyatt of Grants Pass; sisters-in-law Judy Odom of Grants Pass and Bea Price of Susanville, California; brother-in-law Bill Heryford of Cedarville, California; numerous nieces and nephew; and three grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Edna Price; and a sister, Bonna Yticana.
Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society. A celebration of life is pending.

Condolences go to Jake's family and friends.
Salem Command
(Noble Command x Ru-Lee Mystique)
1987 - 2019
1997 through 2000 Salem Command was an Amateur Park & Open Harness Champion. The image of this charismatic Morgan Stallion has appeared over & over again in national ad campaigns representing the Morgan breed. He exemplified the best we have had to offer - incredible beauty, extraordinary talent, & that unmistakable "Morgan Look". During his phenomenal show career he combined awe-inspiring elegance & style with extreme power - a rare combination that gave definition to the original concept of a "Park Horse".

Beyond the show ring he was a very popular breeding horse who passed on his intelligence, his athleticism, & his willingness to please. Many of his offspring have earned National and World titles of their own. Above all else, "Winston" possessed those most prized of all show horse attributes - an honest mind & a great heart.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime, never-to-be-forgotten horse who has always been one of the truly great gentlemen of the show ring.

Our hearts go out to his owner, Carole Bradford
and to all his many fans!

From Rhea Turner:
"When you see the sunrise, think of me, when the cool breeze touches you, know I am free. When you feel the sorrow of us being apart, know I am not lost; I am part of your heart."
Marvelous Heirloom
(Marvelous Intrigue x Marvelous Magic Moment)
2014 - 2019
Our heart goes out to Dale and Sue Beach in the loss of Marvelous Heirloom. Such a lovely young mare. Sue loved her dearly and had so much hope for her to continue the Marvelous tradition.

Sue writes: "Heirloom was the Marvelous future rolled into a perfect and unique horse. Marvelous Intrigue was both her sire and her grandsire. She is irreplaceable. She was always & absolutely as steady as they come. I did get to ride her. She was bred to OTM Total Eclipse, but did not settle. I had so many crosses I wanted to do with her. Let alone, I loved her so very much."

So sorry for this loss for Sue & Dale Beach of Beaches Triple T Ranch
and for the Morgan breed.

Great pictures of UVM Cantor. It's fun to look back at the Morgan horses of yore.
Anyone have one of these two stallions in the pedigree of your horse/s?

Special Update On Lou Goldmann
So happy to advise Lou has new lungs! An exhausted Liz who is with Lou in Arizona for the bilateral lung transplant had a moment to send this message to Shelley Bullard on Thanksgiving:

"Lou is doing well and appreciates the many good wishes. Recovery is a slow process but his new lungs are working 100%.

"Today I am overflowing with thanks for the miracle of my husband's double lung transplant. We are so grateful to the donor and his family, and to our family and friends who are supporting us through this journey. Lou is doing well, and our surgeon declared his new lungs "sexy healthy!" There is a significant recuperation road ahead but he is ready for the journey. Thank you, one and all for you love, caring, and words of encouragement. Indeed a Happy Thanksgiving!

For those of you who don't know, Lou has been on oxygen 24/7 for some time and his prognosis was dire without a lung transplant. Liz has also relayed her special thanks to Sara Breyman (Plumley/Mooney) who has been so helpful in planning the housing needs in Arizona. And, of course, as she says, to her supporting family and all the friends sending well wishes, prayers and good thoughts.

He is home and doing well after two weeks with his new lungs.
Still a long journey ahead.

Such good news!!
Our prayers for Lou & Liz continue.

Roger the pinto Morgan (registry pending as Promise Picasso) went home to Montana with his new mom, Carolyn Quinn. Roger completed his foal kindergarten program here at Promise Farm and walked without hesitation into Carol’s trailer. Carol plans to compete Roger in Dressage and commented that she was impressed when she saw how well Morgans were currently scoring in open Dressage nationwide.
Can’t wait to see what she and Roger will do!
