CALL SHEET
October 21, 2026
|
| A Movement of Prayer for the Entertainment Industry | | |
DEAR HPN members,
As October 31 approaches, let’s be intentional about bringing the light and love of Jesus to our neighborhoods. Take time to greet your neighbors, learn their names, and pray for the children and families who come to your door! Every interaction is an opportunity to show kindness and help someone feel seen and valued by God.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 18:18, “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Let’s exercise that authority in prayer against darkness, including witchcraft and occult practices associated with Halloween, while praying for God’s peace and protection over our neighbors. Let’s be the ones who go out of our way to be salt and light to the people around us, with gentleness and reverence!
Let’s bring to the Lord the many people and issues in Hollywood that need prayer:

NEW YORK 25th ANNIVERSARY GATSBY GALA
We want to praise God for HPN's wonderful 25th anniversary Gatsby Gala in NYC! The event was held at the 1920's brownstone Hephzibah House NYC, and 52 incredible and diverse believers joined the mission and family of HPN! Lets thank Sonia Collier, Robert Rivera and God's Grace, and for how HPN NYC is expanding the NYC Creative Christian community, and the other ministries that also serve entertainment professionals in the city. If you are in the NYC area, be sure to reach out to us so that we can include you in this growing movement!

THE MAGICIAN’S NEPHEW IS COMPLETE
Netflix’s new film, The Magician’s Nephew, the first in the series of Chronicles of Narnia films, is done shooting and will be released in theaters worldwide on February 12, 2027, with IMAX sneak previews beginning Feb. 10. The film will begin streaming on Netflix on April 2, 2027. It’s a modern version of C.S. Lewis’ classic Young Adult novel, told as an allegory to the life and power of Jesus, through the lion, Aslan. Greta is taking a new approach to tell the story for the next generation who may never have read the books, yet she wanted to maintain the integrity and faith in the books. So, let’s pray that the Christian audience will NOT boycott this film, but instead support Greta Gerwig as a story teller, and pray that whatever we think of the story, watching the movie will lead audiences to purchase the books and read it themselves! Please know that boycotts don’t work. They just show hate, anger and judgement. Prayer is what works~ So, we ask you not only join us in praying, but encourage the Christians around you to do the same thing! Here is an article about Greta wanting to maintain the faith in the story:

BILLY CRYSTAL'S CRISIS OF BELIEF
Let’s pray for Billy Crystal who has publicly announced that he can no longer trust in God or even believe in Him, since he lost his home in the Malibu fires last year and then lost his best friend Rob Reiner, when he was murdered by his son. This is the time for us to turn to our God in prayer and ask Him to grab Billy’s heart and let him see how much God loves him and has a plan for his life and ALL of our lives! May the Lord comfort Billy in his pain and give him a hope that will not disappoint him.

NETFLIX LAID OFF OVER 1,000 PEOPLE, INCLUDING DAN LIN
We have to pray for all of the Netflix employees who have lost their jobs in the past two weeks, including HPN member and friend, Dan Lin, who was the Chief over all Netflix feature films. They have laid off over 1,000 employees, which is 6% of their entire workforce, saying that “investors are worried about the slowdown in the U.S./Canada region”, which has been declining in the past year. But in other areas they continue to grow, including in their feature film division. So, let’s pray for Dan and the other employees who have been let go, so they can see God’s provision, peace and opportunities open up for them in the days ahead. And pray that Netflix can become a place where the people are valued more than the bottom line. With God, all things are possible!

BREAKING BAD STAR, RJ MITTE COMMITTED SUICIDE
Please pray for the 32 year old actor, RJ Mitte, best known of his role in the hit TV series Breaking Bad, who passed away last week by suicide. RJ had cerebral palsy and was a strong disability rights advocate, along with his passion for acting and philanthropy. We ask that you pray for RJ’s family and for the many entertainment industry families who are grieving from a loved one’s suicide. HPN brings up these people because we want you to know that there is a spiritual battle in Hollywood as the devil actively steals, kills and destroys our nation’s storytellers. We need your prayers, inviting Jesus into their lives before they lose hope!

DIRECTOR MATT REEVES LEAVES THE FILMING OF THE BATMAN PART II
We need to be praying for director Matt Reeves, who, in the process of filming The Batman Part II, had to step away for personal reasons. He is not publicly stating the family issues he is going through, but the studio is completely supportive of his request and director Steven Soderbergh has stepped in to help finish the film. So, let’s pray for Matt, his personal struggles, and for him and his family to find the peace, comfort, wisdom and hope of our loving God in this difficult time.

HOLLYWOOD RECEIVES A TAX CREDIT FOR DOING POST PRODUCTION IN CAL
For the first time ever, California has implemented a tax credit for post-production work on films and TV shows done in California post facilities. The state is losing all of our production to other states and countries so they are trying to at least keep post-production here. We currently have empty sound stages and post-production houses trying to survive, so please pray that this helps editors, sound mixers, and other post professionals stay in our state and not have to change careers or move to other places to work. And please pray for more tax incentives, credits and opportunities to rebuild our industry in California.

AUSTRALIA HAS ALMOST COMPLETED ITS FIRST YEAR OF BANNING SOCIAL MEDIA FOR CHILDREN
In the midst of our social media crisis, we have to look to other places to help guide our next steps. And Australia is a country Americans are now looking to in hopes of learning what might be necessary in helping young people who are hooked on their phones, disconnected from family and friends, and even committing suicide. As of December 10, 2025, Australia outlawed social media for children under 16 years of age. Their minors are prohibited from holding or creating social media accounts on their phones, and parental consent does not exempt children from the ban. Please pray that we can see how that impacts family and friend dynamics so that we can learn the best way to handle this issue in our culture. We need God’s wisdom, discernment and tough love to help the next generation.

Thank you for praying WITH us and FOR us this week. We are so grateful for you being a part of our global HPN family. We love you and pray that you are growing in your faith, are a part of a vital Christian community, and seeking Jesus every day!
With love,
Karen, Kelry, Myesha and Melody

“It is not so much the greatness of our troubles, as the littleness of our spirit, which makes us complain.”

"Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain."
-- Phil. 2:14-16

Weekly HPN Devotional: THANKFULNESS
Being thankful is one of the most beautiful qualities of a Christian and makes us stand out amongst our non-believing friends as they see us expressing a thankful attitude for all things in our life, for we have so much to be thankful for. This week we focus on being thankful to the Lord every day, so that we end the week overflowing with thankfulness, praise, gratitude and joy. Karen Covell
