Response Update
A Message to Our CRC Family
To Our CRC Family,
We want to take a moment to update you on the critical response efforts currently underway and share how CRC has been called upon to support individuals and communities impacted by two devastating tragedies.

Saturday, October 10
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
|
In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 10, two Philadelphia police officers were shot at a residence in West Philadelphia. Officer Shane Seiber, a 10-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, was shot three times and tragically succumbed to his injuries. Officer Hector Rodriguez was shot 12 times and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Within an hour of the shooting, CRC was contacted and requested to deploy to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center to support and interact with affected police personnel and hospital staff. Our team remained on location for more than six hours, providing support during an incredibly difficult and emotional time.
Since that initial deployment, CRC has participated in multiple briefings with officers impacted by the incident and has returned during various shifts to connect with personnel directly affected by this tragedy. At the direction of Philadelphia Police Command and Philadelphia CIT, CRC will continue to provide support as needed.

Protecting Sacred Moments
During times of tragedy, the moments shared with those who are hurting are deeply personal and sacred. CRC believes those moments deserve to be protected, not publicized. Our communication regarding this response is intended solely to keep our CRC Family informed of our ongoing efforts. We will not share photographs or details that compromise the privacy, dignity, or trust of the individuals with whom our members have had the privilege of serving. Our focus remains where it belongs: on supporting those impacted, honoring those who serve, and being present when we are needed most.

Thursday, October 15
Bend, Oregon
|
On Thursday, October 15, another unimaginable tragedy unfolded when a shooter entered Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. Three children, ages 5, 8, and 11, and a schoolteacher were killed. Two additional individuals were shot and remain hospitalized.
In an extraordinary coincidence, CRC's Director of CISM Teams had just completed an ICISF GRIN course in Bend, Oregon. Through direct communication with our Director, Oregon authorities became aware of CRC and its capabilities.
As a result, two California CRC teams have been activated and will respond to the school and other designated locations under the direction and guidance of Oregon authorities. Our teams stand ready to provide support to those affected as this community begins to face the difficult days ahead.

A Shared Purpose
As members of the CRC Family, we are united by a common purpose: to show up for others during some of the most painful and challenging moments of their lives. Whether supporting law enforcement officers, hospital personnel, school communities, or families facing unimaginable loss, we recognize the responsibility and privilege that come with being invited into these moments.
We ask that you keep the families of Officer Seiber, Officer Rodriguez, the children and teacher lost in Oregon, the injured, the first responders, and all those affected by these events in your thoughts and prayers. Please also remember the communities and colleagues who will continue to carry the emotional weight of these tragedies long after the immediate response has ended.
To every CRC member who has answered the call, and to every member who continues to support our mission behind the scenes, thank you. Your compassion, commitment, and willingness to serve make this work possible.
