Spelling Bee

In round 22, it came down to what ?Nilaani Vasanth (8) would hope to be the last word: inanimate. And it was.Manvik Madrira (7) was runner up and Akshara Murugappan (8) placed third. Congratulations to the 21 others who competed in the annual spelling bee.

Veteran Wall of Honor

As part of our Veterans Day Celebration CMS would like to pay tribute to all men and women related to a Carroll Middle School student who are serving or have served in any of our military forces. We would like to recognize them on a “Wall of Honor.” If you have a veteran in your family you would like for us to honor, please complete the CMS Veterans Day Photo Submission to upload a photo. All submissions must be uploaded and submitted through the form by Nov. 6 in order to be included. 

Lost and Found

We already have an abundance of water bottles in Lost and Found as well as clothes starting to pile up. Please ask your child to check the items that are located by the stairs in the main hallway.


Candy

SRO Brett Roberson passes out candy to students during passing periods, as reward for participating in dress up days, etc. She would appreciate any and all donations.

Extended Day

Need to make up a test or quiz? Need a quiet place to work on homework or study after school? Join us in Extended Day. 

Extended Day is held in the library on Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays from 3:50-4:50 pm.

 

General guidelines:

  • Students must arrive in the library by 3:50 pm with all materials needed, i.e. laptop, binders, pencil, etc.
  • Students who come to take tests or quizzes may leave as soon as they're finished.
  • Students who come for homework must stay until 4:50 pm

Yearbook

Have a photo you want to share with the yearbook staff? We are needing summer vacation, camp, off-campus pe, weekend activities, community services, etc. Please include your student's name, the photographer name, and any additional information that may be helpful such as date and locations.

SZombie Thriller Party CEF Fundraiser - October 29

Southlake Moms (Szombies or Southlake Zombies) are hosting The SZombie Thriller Party, benefitting CEF and CISD Teachers.


Too scared of SZombies? The real horror is that CISD is the 4th lowest funded district in Texas.


Please join our dancing SZombies and raise the dead and funds for Dragon teachers on Oct. 29 from 5 - 7 pm at 1200 Westmont Drive, Southlake, TX 76092!


It’ll be a night of thrills, chills, and loads of family fun! Thriller Flash Mob at 6:45 PM by the pond—don’t miss the dance of the undead! There will be bounce house fun, awesome raffles, and prizes, candy galore, and delicious food for purchase!

As a reminder to our community, the use of school facilities, including sports courts, tracks, etc., are closed to the public during regular school hours and are not for general use. All visitors to campus must check in at our front office as usual.

Dragon Families, please read about the Wait Until 8th pledge, known in our community as Dragons Delaying Devices. This parent-led initiative encourages families to hold off on giving children smartphones until at least the end of 8th grade, helping them grow without the distractions and pressures of early smartphone use. Looking for volunteer hours? Need to get some holiday shopping done? The Southlake Carroll PTO Craft Fair is a perfect opportunity for both! This two-day event features over 200 unique vendors, making it a one-stop holiday shopping experience. Plus, all proceeds benefit Project Graduation.

Student Council Carry Forward, Feed It Forward 5K - Nov. 9

Carroll Student Council is partnering with the Wounded Warrior Project and our Southlake first responders to host the first Carry Forward, Feed It Forward 5K event at North Park in Southlake on Saturday, Nov.9 from 8-11 am. All proceeds from the race go to the Wounded Warrior Project and local food banks. Join us for food trucks, a best-dressed contest, and more. Click here to register or donate. Can't participate... feel free to donate to the cause or build a basket for Thanksgiving. Non-perishable items can be dropped off at North Park on the morning of the event or in the bin outside of the front office of CSHS.  Questions go to StuCoWWP5K@gmail.com.

Student Council's Wipe Out Kids Cancer Fundraiser - Nov. 22

Carroll Student Council is partnering with Wipe Out Kids Cancer "to work relentlessly to see the day when cancer is no longer a threat to any child." Help Carroll Student Council to Wipe Out Kids Cancer by donating to our fall fundraising challenge. We compete against the student councils from Allen, Highland Park, and Rockwall Heath and the donation site will be open and available through Nov. 22.  All funds go toward supporting families that are directly impacted by pediatric cancer through four major metroplex hospitals - Children's Health Medical Center of Dallas, Children's Health Medical Center of Plano, Cook Children's Hospital, and Medical City Healthcare. CMA Booster Membership Drive - through Nov. 29

CMA Booster Membership Drive is open and running until Nov. 29. You are REQUIRED to be a member of the CMA Boosters for a minimum of 3 years in order to qualify for a Senior scholarship. You can join online and pay by credit card at “2024-2025 Booster Membership Registration” on the carrollmedical.com website. “2024-25 CMA Membership ” is $100. Remember that booster membership is annual and we need 100% participation from parents of each class to ensure we have funding for this year’s activities. Thanks to those who have already signed up.

Southlake Showdown 5K Series is a weekly challenge for 36 weeks to get Dragon Families and surrounding communities together for some fun. There is a great route in the middle of Southlake free from traffic that I think you’ll enjoy. The Southlake Showdown 5K Series can be as challenging as you would like it to be. You can join us for just a casual evening walk or take it up a notch and compete for places. I hope to see you on Thursday evenings.

SPECIAL MONTHLY CHALLENGES: 1 Thursday a month we have a special challenge.

·  ·       Sept. 26th Consistency Challenge: Participants who complete the most races this month are the winners.

·       Oct. 24 - Costume Challenge: Participants dress up and best costume is the winner. 

·       Nov. 21 - Family Participation Challenge: Families that run together, win together. Family(s) that have the most participation are the winners.

·       Dec. 19 - Participation Challenge: Participants enter into a raffle, with prizes awarded at the end of the race.

·       Jan. 30 - Mile Marker Challenge: Mini-challenges at each mile marker.

·       Feb. 27 - Team Competition Challenge: Participants form teams of 3-4. Team with the best average performance are the winners.

·       March 2h - Pet Challenge: Participants run with their pets and fastest runner with a pet are the winners.

·       April 24 - Mileage Milestones Challenge: Recognize runners who hit certain mileage milestones throughout the series.

·       May 15 - Improvement Challenge: Recognize participants who show the most improvement in their times over the course of the series.
