Hello Chamber Members,
Happy New Year! As we bid farewell to the past and welcome the opportunities that lie ahead, the Vanderhoof Chamber of Commerce extends warm wishes to each of you. We hope you had a joyful holiday season filled with rest, rejuvenation, and quality time with loved ones.
As we embark on this new year, we are excited about the potential for growth, collaboration, and success within our business community. In this edition of our newsletter, we would like to share some key highlights, initiatives, and plans for the upcoming months.
Reflecting on 2023 - It was a very dry year which brought on many Forest Fires in our Region, with the fires came extra firefighters and Canadian Armed forces into our community. We thank them all for their efforts and hope that they felt welcomed into our community.
One of our mills shut down a shift which created a loss of jobs. Through a combine effort on the part of many groups within our community, these displaced workers were shown options on how they could proceed.
As difficult of a year as it was, the Business Community came together to support The Pumpkin Walk and it was a great success.
The Parade of Lights and Merry Madness were also great successes and hopefully fun for everyone. I believe this was one of the biggest parades that we have seen for a long time and thank you to all of the businesses and groups that participated.
Business Excellence Awards were reintroduced and the Nominations and Voting were overwhelming. Winners will be announced at our Business Excellence Awards Banquet.
Looking ahead to 2024 - We have out Business Excellence Awards Banquet on January 20th and have tickets available at the office, Wallace's Studio or Vanderhoof Department Store. Hope to see you there
I am working on some Chamber Luncheon's so I will send out the information on dates as soon as they are confirmed. If you are interested in hosting one please let me know.
Our AGM is being held on February 29th, at 6:00pm at Scott's Grille and more information will follow. If you are interested in Sponsoring this event or in becoming a director please let me know.
We are looking at hosting a Summer event and a few new fall events to promote our businesses and local shopping, so as we have more finalized details I will pass them along.
If you have any events in your businesses that you would like to have promoted please let me know and I will get them on our website and Social Media posts.
I am looking forward to working with you and your businesses this year and helping you in any way that I can.
