Merdeka 118 is a large-scale mixed development that consists of a 118-storey mega-tall tower, three high end residential towers and more than 130 000 m2 of high-end retail space. At the heart of this prestigious development, is an iconic 118-storey diamond shape tower that is set to redefine Kuala Lumpur skyline with height of 679.9m tall to become the second tallest Tower in the world. The effective application of High-Performance Concrete up to C105 has significantly optimize the size of structural elements and improve the economics of the building by maximizing premium floor space. This presentation will provide brief on the architecture design, engineering systems, in particular structural engineering & construction innovations and key challenges in the design and construction of 2nd Tallest Building in the world.

Mr. Ahmad Abdelrazaq is the Founder and Managing Director and Partner of RISE GLOBAL, LLC, a firm that is specialized in all aspects of engineering and management works for large and complex development projects. Presently Mr. Abdelrazaq is involved in several complex and iconic project in UAE, Saudia Arabia, India and Southeast Asia. Mr. Abdelrazaq formerly served as the Executive Vice President with Samsung C&T, Korea, and held several key technical and management positions during his tenure at Samsung C&T, including consolidating, developing, and strengthening the high-rise building division with diversified business models both domestically and globally.
