All Are Invited to Come to the Table

Come to the Table: Community Conversation on Mental Health

Registration: Required. Sign up here.

Support: Child care will be provided.

How do we support mental health in our communities?

Join us for a free pizza dinner and a meaningful evening of small-group conversation focused on improving mental health in our community!

Attendees will be seated in small groups, each guided by a discussion moderator. Together, participants will explore multiple perspectives, engage in thoughtful deliberation, and work toward shared solutions. Unlike debate—which often centers on persuasion or winning—this conversation will use a deliberative dialogue approach. Participants will consider trade-offs, reflect on competing values, and engage with the complexity of mental health challenges—recognizing that there is no single “right” answer. This format fosters deeper understanding, mutual respect, and collaborative problem-solving.

Following the event, key themes and insights from the discussions will be compiled into a report and shared with the community and local stakeholders to support continued action and conversation.

MOUNT HOREB ART FAIR

The Grand Opening of Mt. Horeb's Democratic Office coincides with the village's yearly Art Festival. There will be plenty of chances to purchase artwork from the artist who created it. It is a chance to celebrate community and the arts. For more information on the event go to:

WISCONSIN LEGISLATURE CONTINUES TO

SHORT CHANGE THE ARTS

Sadly in Wisconsin the current GOP majority has stifled state funding of the arts. Wisconsin ranks nearly last in the country in arts funding. Madison arts organizations and the UW are trying to fill the gaps.

The state of Wisconsin ranks third-to-last in the nation in funding for the arts, according to the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies. The state spends 18 cents per capita on arts funding, while neighboring Minnesota spends $7.85 per capita and ranks first in arts funding.

Our new voting maps at the legislative level are fair, representative, and NOT gerrymandered. However, these maps will only be in place until 2030 (the next Census). Wisconsin still needs a PERMANENT redistricting process to ensure neither political party can gerrymander our voting maps in the future. But there is a building effort to remake the process of drawing fair district maps. The Fair Maps Coalition will be presenting a road map for districting reform. All are invited to join the conversation.

SWWAP newsletters feature a new series of videos highlighting America's first 250 years. The project is spearheaded by Heather Cox Richardson.

This installment of 250 on 250 features the AIDS quilt project. Reflecting on how the quilt personalized the crisis, the Smithsonian Magazine notes, "It was a new kind of memorial; one that was collectively created and movable and shape-shifting."

🧵 All quilts start with a single stitch. Never doubt that individually and collectively nothing is beyond our reach.
