Think of the following as my advice for any association staff person thinking of taking on this difficult - but very rewarding - challenge.

The paper examines changes expected in the labor force and gives advice on how best to prepare organizations for these changes - both at an employee and volunteer level.

Wisconsin: We need you!
American Associations Day is March 18-19
There is a critical need for the voices of association executives in Washington. Join WSAE in Washington, DC on March 18-19 for American Associations Day, the only fly in for association professionals. Share your voice with our leaders.
You don't need to be active in government relations or advocacy to join us: American Associations Day is about gaining knowledge and understanding about what impacts the business of associations and our members. It's also about connecting with other association professionals across the country to improve the work that we do. One such opportunity is the ASAE Board Reception, which offers unparalleled networking within the community. In addition, Wisconsin Congressional offices look forward to meeting with constituents like you who can share critical information on how legislative impacts our home state.
ASAE will give you all the tools you need to succeed- from training on the issues to talking points and tips on making your meeting on the Hill a success. You can also earn 3.25 CAE credit hours for participating in the education sessions on March 18! We need your help. Wisconsin's leaders in Congress are pivotal in potential tax reform and because of that, our attendance matters to the association community. From the Chair of the House tax-writing committee, to the Chair of the Senate committee dealing with government attendance at association meetings: Wisconsin's elected leaders in DC are powerful, and they are listening. Join us at American Associations Day to ensure that our members of Congress know how our associations are improving Wisconsin's districts and communities. Too often associations are viewed as just another "special interest" by lawmakers, and this is wrong. Tell your Members how your association is driving the economy and improving society in Wisconsin. Because if they have no idea, then how will they stand up for us?
ASAE makes it easy: they will provide training on the most effective way to share our message, provide you with resources for visiting your Congressional offices, and even give you a scholarship of up to $300 to attend!
To register, or if you have any questions, please contact Rob Magleby, ASAE public policy manager, at 202-626-2719. Follow us on Twitter at: @Power_of_A.
