We recruit, train, and support Democrats running for the State House in rural Georgia

Republicans claim they are the party for people of faith. But people of faith are abandoning their party due to the cowardice they display by accepting their leader's cruelty, racism, lies and corruption. Democrats are the party of caring for the poor, the sick, and the disadvantaged. This newsletter will feature some of our many candidates whose faith has compelled them to run in their rural districts as Democrats.

First up: Joe Powers -- Candidate for State House District 155 (Laurens and Johnson Counties, Dublin GA)

Above: Joe and his wife, Jamie, at the Dublin, GA Waffle House after Sunday church. Joe credits his campaign as a Democrat to his Christianity and wanting to be a good example for his sons. His youngest son is the child in this Facebook post of Joe's:

David Hall is running in State House District 174, which includes the Okefenokee Swamp. This is the largest (i.e. most rural) district in the state - covering nearly 3,200 square miles. Only 13% of adults have a college degree, and 27% of children live in poverty. The district voted 78% for Trump in 2024.

David is a disabled veteran, subsitute school teacher, husband, and father of three. He is also Jewish, in a part of the state that has so few Jews that the nearest synagogue has a Rabbi drive in from Atlanta once a month.

This is a brave man -- running as a Democrat and a Jew in an overwhelmingly red and Christian district.

David and his wife, Kelly, when they drove 5 hours up to the Capitol for David to qualify for the ballot in March:

David's district was devastated by wildfires this spring. One hundred and twenty homes were destroyed. David has shown up for his neighbors as a real leader -- for example, advocating for them to be able to live in an RV on their lots until they can afford to rebuild.

This photo shows the exhaustion he felt, driving home late at night while fires were still burning, after bringing food to firefighters:

Micah King is our candidate in State House District 157, between Savannah and Albany. Micah is a career counselor for Fort Stewart soldiers exiting the military, has served on the City Council of Glennville, and is the father of six children. Here is Micah with his wife and four daughters:

Micah's father and six of his uncles and aunts are ordained ministers. Prayer and the Black church are cornerstones of Micah's life. He is a Democrat due to our party's inclusiveness and belief in dignity for all people.

Micah serves his church as a volunteer youth minister, literacy coach, and drummer! Micah with children at his church:

Finally, we are proud to introduce you to Rob Epstein, our candidate for House District 23 in Cherokee County, a 74% Trump district in 2024 (but about to be much less in 2026!)

Rob is one of those people whose Christianity glows in him and his patience and love for everyone. Here is his post announcing his "WHY" for running for office as a Democrat:

And lest you think he only loves his fellow Christians, nope, not this guy. Here is his post on Easter:
